I Built a 1k Email List Through Giveaways- What Can I Do To Grow It More and Monetize?

This email list is really making me bang my head against the wall. I grow it exclusively through my Instagram account, and I ran three protein powder giveaways over the past three months that has grown my list to 1k. The giveaways are viral giveaways- when you sign up, you get a referral link, and the more people you get to join using that link, you increase your own chances to win. It's helped gain 60-70 emails per giveaway but nothing major, also a bit hung up on how to get people to use this more.

The email list is an informational email list- I send about two emails a week of articles on how to improve your lifting and bodybuilding. My open rate is 9.6%.

Two issues have popped up though:

1.) I've completely saturated my Instagram account. My first giveaway gained 451 emails and my second gained 607. I was expecting upwards of 700-800 on my third, but instead I got only 216! This is because I advertise almost entirely through one account, and I feel my followers are mostly done trying the giveaway after failing two in a row. What can I do to fix this?

I just started my fourth giveaway. I paid someone with a huge Facebook group (100k+) in the Bodybuilding niche to pin my most for the giveaway, and only got 20 people to join. I want to start finding marketing venues outside my Instagram account for this, but I can't find any. I thought Facebook groups would work but i seems it doesn't.

2.) I cannot figure out how to monetize it for the life of me. First, I tried affiliate offers. I sent out affiliate offers for protein supplements that were on sale, and I got nothing. I tried to camouflage it and put it inside one of my articles, nothing.

So, I had a new idea- sell online personal training! I priced it at $10/mo and said I would offer everything- workout plans, diet advice, unlimited workout advice- the works. I built this landing page and advertised it on both my email list and Instagram- actually, the email list wasn't effective AT ALL! I got 6 leads, and 5 of them were from Instagram. I emailed them on Sunday and have yet to hear a response from ANY of them.

I really thought that the online personal training idea would work and I still think it can, but I'm just really lost on how to get people to actually sign up for it.

I also want to aggressively grow my email list- I don't want only 500 emails a giveaway, I want one thousand or two thousand or three thousand! I can't figure out how to do this on my own, and I'm asking for advice here. Any is it appreciated.

To monetize an email list is to work like the law of large numbers, the more you send, the better chance of making money from at least one of them. 1k list will not generate too much, usually people send to lists with millions of addresses in order to get results.

I see. Can you read my first point over? I need advice on how to continue my growth strategy using giveaways because my account is completely saturated right now.

Do you have a website? If so, submit your giveaway to giveaway directories. I run giveaways often, and I once did a giveaway for an XBox around Christmas time and got 20,000 email signups and the traffic to the site itself paid for the prize. The emails were a bonus.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Submit giveaway to giveaway websites. contestgirl is a good one. Just google contest websites. Some even have do follow links and huge followings. When people enter do you make them do anything else besides enter an email? Like share on twiiter, intsagram or facebook?

No, I don't make them, but they are heavily incentivized to do it. They get an extra 10 entries under their name for every person they get to join.

The software I use doesn't support making them share, though, only as an option.

Should I do any paid giveaway sites or only free ones? How can I figure out which ones are good and which ones suck?

Yeah, the directories I use are free.

I'll find you a website a little later and link to it that has all the directories listed that I use. And yes Contest Girl is a good one.

Some of the directories require you to create accounts but other than that they're free with optional pay upgrades.

Just make sure your website looks official to the point where you can afford to give stuff away.

No problem. I had those links bookmarked. Great info from reputable people doing their thing online. I even signed up for their newsletters myself, lol...so they got me.
