I'm posting this in the lounge because I don't think it specifically relates to SEO. Just general discussion & overview.

I've picked a niche that interests me & have purchased a relevant domain name. I've set up social accounts on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram to eventually drive traffic to the site.

Now... I've read 25 different guides here on BHW - I'm not lazy, I'm willing to do the research & work myself, however... could someone give me a 10,000 foot overview of what exactly I should do to get started? Some of the stuff I've read is a little over my head.

I work in IT & have been running web sites for years - however, they've really only been personal pages, nothing I was looking to monetize.

My ultimate goal is to put this thing on autopilot & hopefully make a few hundred $ a month. I'm not looking to get rich (if that happens, great!), but I'm a little confused as to what steps 1, 2 & 3 should be.

Some tools I've purchased / using:

    Wordpress for the site
FollowLiker / MassPlanner to automate social media
GSA / SER (which even after watching 5 or 6 youtube tutorials, I can't seem to get working right!)

have you created content? have you figured out what you are capable of doing yourself and what you need to purchase? have you figured a way to monetize?

    Good questions, thanks.

As for content - I'm not a writer & never will be one. I recognize that. My plan is to aggregate content on the site - think Drudge Report, but not news.

I'm willing to try to do most everything myself - however, part of my problem is that I don't fully understand what needs to be done. There may be areas that I hire out.

Monetization - my eventual plan was to run adwords, or look at one of the other ad partners I've been reading about here on BHW.

Why did you buy these things if you don't know what to do yet...

Always plan things before you do them.

It's meant to be a learning experience. Did you not start someplace?

I do know "what to do". I just a) don't know that I'm doing things in the right order and / or b) whether I'm doing everything I need to do to build traffic / "successful" site. That's all. Like I said, I'm willing to do all the hard work myself. I'm not looking for a handout. Just a general discussion on how best to get the ball rolling.

Stop. Your done you're already rich. Bravo!

No but seriously, start building content on a niche. If there's one thing I can tell you it's that. Build content A LOT of it. THEN worry about promotion. Make sure it's timeless stuff so that you don't lose out.

I did the exact same shit, I really did. That's why I said it's best to plan.

You will end up spending $100's on tools you don't need and won't use.

Spend your money on content, I wouldn't even bother buying tools for now. If you want to try GSA buy a $5 GSA blast...

Work out what works, then spend $XXX on the actual tools.
