No, my interview with them was a bit awkward I must say. There were other people there with far more experience than me but I'm betting they were impressed with the programming I've done for myself . They told me "we can't wait to know more from you". If anything it lasted about 5-6 hours and they treated me real well. What can I say? I have a charming personality :)
God Bless you too!
Congrats bro!
you've got great things up ahead

BTW, did you have that 'famous' all day long, write algos on the white board kinda interview with them ?

God bless you :)

Wow!! nice man...and do not tell our blackhat secret to them

Yeah, don't share the secrets from our small underground community here.

You said product creation? Like the actual engineering of their services? That requires a solid background of programming, accredited by universities, that's 4 years right there

'accredited by universities' ? You don't know much about the software engineering industry do you?

The vast majority of the world's best programmers don't have degrees and within the open source community we actually laugh at people who boast about being 'accredited' and the like.

All that matters is what you've done. Programming is HIGHLY experienced based and because of the nature of the work you can physically show your experience.

To become a programmer at Google at the entry level you'll need some open source projects, not a degree. A degree can work against you in programming unless you've been actively engaged in building software while studying, which you won't be as part of your course.

You seriously have no idea how basic the level of programming is at most courses. Unless you've got your degree from MIT then chances are you've only ever done very very basic stuff.

I remember a few years ago a final year comp sci student telling me about his end of year project.. A Java program to stream mp3's from the web. He was having a lot of difficulty and trying to rip existing code. A Google-level programmer could do that in a few hours.

I'm finding all this recent influx of college-love on bhw quite funny. It's like people have been watching some government "get an education" propaganda. In the real world degrees mean nothing in 90% of fields.

Congrats, sounds a bit like smuggling containers of fake stuff and working for the customs at the same time.. :) my dream

Ethan how did you go from zero qualifications to being offered a position at the world's most powerful corporation in such a short amount of time?

You must have done something remarkable in these 6 months am I right?

That is true. I am proactive and I see no loss in trying. A lot of it has to do with the attitude you approach life in. Opportunities to learn are right there you just've got to take advantage and don't be afraid.
In fact, I've done really remarkable things this past month. Some are fast learners and I'm one of those. Anyone can get a job in whatever they want just get prepared and don't be afraid. Fear is just good for paralyzing us, nothing else.
I wish you all the success in the world.

You have partnered with the enemy, you are no longer welcome here (Dun Dun Dun). Just kidding, congrats on the job (Y)

You know what's funny? My partner told me: "You better think twice before you post that thread, people are either going to be nice or want to eat you alive" I decided to go for it, even if I had gotten just one, ONE nice response that'd have made my day, I take the good and get rid of the trash
Thank you bud.

I'll be a product creator, I won't be in an SEO department. Nothing to worry about, even though BHW is not so underground nowadays.

That was *massive* *massive* sarcasm from me :)

bhw is about as underground as craigslist.

What is it you develop in anyway and what area is it you're working for them at? Working on developing their various web applications or internal tools etc?
