I am sick of scams on the internet. Any way to deal with them in 2013?

It's a week or so what I was a witness of how a friend of mine was a victim of a scam on Craigslist.
Since then, I've started to follow similar topics as he was scummed - renting flats.
Every day I am watching offers and every day I see several offers that have literally the same scheme as the one where my friend was scammed. For one city - just for the first 18 hours of today I saw 3 scams for renting flats - just for this one city! And this is just one area (the motor/electronic section may be even worse).

This makes me sick and said at the same time. I can't even imagine how much money a day these scammers steal from decent people who have worked hard to earn them.

And even worse is probably the fact, that nobody can do anything with that - yea, the one can report this scam to local police, but that's probably an end. You can report this scam to the owner of the server, but that's all.
FBI has a department about internet frauds, but all you can do is just to fill out a form and, as well, that's all.
The result is - scammer steal money, scammed person can do nothing and just hear "you should be more careful". How bitter.

Does exist in 2013, when the internet is the strongest medium, an organisation that deal with this kind of crime (and even more - successfully?)? I haven't found it yet... And unfortunately, this makes from the internet scams very profitable - and still secure, business...

Scammers are most intelligent in these fraud cases. Whether it is 2013, 14 or 2020, they will find the way to scam people in anyway. So the short story you can't control scam.

You really should have been more careful :) Because that's it, FBI won't stop you from losing money.

I never feel sorry for scam victims, especially when it is a large amount, for if they had done real research and taken precautions such as not sending $1,000 over LR there would be no scam.

OP I dont really get the point of your post but in a nutshell, you will never be able to stop scammers. Its like you would try to stop black hat seo. There will be always good guys and bad guys, fire and water, day and night. I feel bad too when I see scammed people but probably the best you can do is to report them on proper scam sites and if we're talking about this forum, report them on the shit list and mods will take care of them. Still this is temporary as the scammers will strike again under another identity therefore this is hard to be stopped.
Maybe its a bit off topic but when I wrote "hard to be stopped" one of my favourite songs popped out in my mind. I don't know if you like dubstep but we're in the lounge so here it is:

I scroll through thousands of classifieds everyday. Most scams stick out a mile away. I hate to say people are stupid but it's fair to say most scammed people are naive at best and blind to obvious warning signs at least.

Most people should be able to tell if it's a scam. Even if they can't - be smart. Don't have over money and/or info without first being sure it isn't a scam.

It's very easy to spot a scam, if it's too good to be true, probably is.

FBI and GMail are brothers. They only take note and don't act. One on scam, other on spam.

Forget the past and get ready...

    for another scam. :)

Or be careful the next time. GL

    P.S.:

Gave you something that will at least bring on a smile... :)
God bless! Keep Smiling! BE careful next time...

Property rental scams are also very prevalent in London.

Every single flat a friend looked at on Gumtree (similar to CL) was a scam - not a single genuine flat!!

I do feel sorry for most people who get scammed TBH - it ain't nice.

I don't really feel sorry for people who get scammed like this. Most scams are so obvious, it's ridiculous.
