You can always work online (freelancing, consultating, making your own websites, etc.) and still move to London.

Well, that is my plan :)

Just be clear that accommodation costs in London are very high indeed and hence if you are looking to finance your life in London through income then you'll need a decent income! Sorry if I'm stating the obvious.

The employment market in London is improving after a prolonged recession so you might be coming here at a good time if you have the right skills.

You might find that contract work will suit you best. More and more businesses now contract in services on a needs basis rather than have full time permanent staff.

Being from London I can safely say that please really evaluate your decision to move here.

It is extremely hard to get a job in the current climate and the living expenses are through the roof in some areas.

I would advise you really look into where in London you plan to stay, the monthly costs and then look around for job listings in that area to see if it's a viable option.

In all honesty, the idea may sound good but in reality moving to London may not be what its hyped up as.

    Cheers,

    TheArticleMan.

If you get to rent a room outside of zone 2/3 it should be fine. It will probably cost you £120-160 per week with bills included.

Rents not your only problem. Last time I was in London(about three months ago) you would need £100 a day just to walk round, park your car and get a sandwich. Its an expensive city, everything costs "London" as we say.

If your wife has guaranteed employment with a decent salary you stand a chance.

    Hey webso,

Sorry can't help you with London but I've moved to Europe before for a few years and the only tips I can give you are the following.

    1. Cost of living is higher so make sure you are prepared for that.
    2. Put money aside before you leave because you'll want to travel.
    3. If you travel within Europe, use Ryanair.
    4. Look up the different expat communities in London to find people in the same situation.
    5. Speak to your embassy in London, they might have job offers for nationals.

You could always keep doing Internet Marketing from there and get a good buffer of monthly revenues before you move.

    Hope it helps.

    Good luck.

Man, I am planning to move to London myself in a couple of months and it looks that I need to bring a lot of money with myself.

It looks that working off the books seems the only choice when arriving there.

London isn't the best place to be at the moment especially when you are looking for greener pastures all because of the economic recession. If you are going to study, invest good sum of money £50,000+, already have an employment then it's a different case.

Screw London, go for Moss Side instead, you'll find very affordable housing and let's just say a lively community.

It is expensive here, and also as said above, hard to find work.
You should try and search for a few jobs beforehand, see if you have the qualifications and so on, then you have a reasonable idea if you can get work beforehand.

OP, this tool might interest you:

    http://www.expatistan.com/cost-of-living

It gives you an idea about cost of living in different cities in the world. As you can see the cheapest cities in Europe are in the South (no wonder!) like Portugal and in the East (Bulgaria, Romania, etc.)

Good luck friend. I have thought about moving to London myself (currently living in South Europe) but it sounds that "fleeing" from the recession is like playing Whack-a-mole...it might be like that guy I've read about that wanted to flee WW2, sold everything in Europe and moved to some Island in the Pacific, ending up in the midst of a even more brutal war scenario.

India must be beautiful as a piece of land, but all this rape stuff sounds absolutely shitty...
