I've already successfully set up an on-demand sales site that nets me $300 a month every month for the last 2 years without me doing anything at all (since the initial work done in 2010).

I'm now about 6 months into internet marketing, putting in 8-10 hours a day. But I'm not seeing much in the way of returns. I'm trying to do this straight forward and honestly, no SEO tricks, no accounts in different names, buying traffic, none of that. I want to build up something genuine that will work and last.

I have two sites, both loaded with content, updating every day or two. The first site covers a popular amateur sport with posts on how-to and various niches within that sport. The second is an adult site reviewing prostitution services. I run adsense and Amazon affiliate ads on the sports site and adult and dating ads on the adult review site.

    My results look like this:

Sports site (6 months old) - 1500 visitors per month / 3000 pageviews / 200 visitors from search engines.
Adult site (2 months old) - 700 visitors per month / 2600 pageviews / 200 visitors from search engines.

I'm making $10 a month from adsense, averaging 15 clicks a day, split evenly between my site and related youtube videos. I'm making $5 a month from Amazon affiliate sales. I tried some other affiliate networks but got nothing. I haven't made anything from the adult sites I advertise.

The most money I've made came from the sale of a 125x125 ad on the sports site to a small company for $150 / 12 months. This at least covers my hosting.

And that's it. No more income to speak of.

What can I do to monetize here? Is this enough traffic to earn income? Should I focus on traffic or conversion?

I am in serious need of help and would be incredibly grateful to anyone who can help. I am disabled and this is my only opportunity to earn money.

I'm thinking of writing some expert ebooks. One for each site. I know quite a lot about both. Is it worth it?

    Thanks!

your prostitution service reviews site it's not very monetizable, so to speak.i'm imagining that your visitors are more curious than horny.take a look at your keyword searches, that will tell you why your visitors are there and you'll know how to monetize them.

On the adult, around 66% coming from the US, the rest mainly coming from developed markets in Asia (South Korea, Japan & Hong Kong).

On the sports, about 75% coming from the US. The rest mainly come from UK, South Korea, Japan, Thailand (I think most are western people on vacation in Thailand).

try a content locker for your adult website.there most be some CPA companies that will accept your site.

I'm running a number of ads to relevant adult sites right now. Most are percentage of signups, but some are per click. I'd rather not have some "sign up for this before you can view" stuff on my page. In my own experience that makes me leave a site. Plus I'm getting a lot of visits from mobile users.

not content locking all your site.just some parts using "this is premium content.to access it please complete an offer from our sponsor" or something similar.i would give it a try for a week or so.

also the fact that your are running too many ads can create the image of a spammy site..

Yea, I was thinking that too. Before I didn't have so many, but I'm desperate to get at least a little income out of all this work! What do you think is the proper amount of ads per page?

depends, but i won't put more than 2.you can also use a link locker, it's easier to use than a content locker, and in your case more productive i think.

Personally, I'd try and repeat what you did with your first successful site, i.e. build more sites like it

    I'd sell the adult site

I'd seek out someone on the forum to JV with on the sports site - their site development/revenue generation knowledge in exchange for a slice of the site revenue

The first site was so darn boring to make. It took like six months of work that was just tedious, boring, mind numbing. That's why I stopped when I did.

The adult site is really pretty unique and I'm actually pretty interested and experienced in the topic. That's why I'm able to write 1-2 2,000 word articles/reviews a day. I didn't make the site just to turn an income, but I won't be able to continue it at the rate I've currently got going unless I somehow start to.

Interesting about the sports site. I'm definitely going to look into JV.

    I know what you mean!

Silo sites using large amounts of LSI keyword articles are my specialty - they become authority sites, but it's so boring once you get past the keyword research phrase, and actually have to start writing - and it's a waste of time outsourcing these types of articles
