I am having so much trouble with getting followers.

Gaining followers in the correct niches is really important in my opinion. You could try tweetfavy, they have a segmentation process and once set up it will automatically accrue followers. Hope it helps!

I use Twitter follower and auto scroll extensions on Chrome to follow followers of the accounts who have a similar niche to mine. I usually follow 900-1k per session. Then I wait for 2 days and start unfollowing the ones who don't follow me back with unfollowers.com and manageflitter.com (both are for free). After the unfollowing process is complete I wait for the next day and start following people again.

I get 400-700 followers per each session :)

Instead of concentrating merely on how many followers you have, I would think more in terms of how engaged can you have your followers? What's the use of tons of followers if you don't grab their eyeballs?

For these people who may be following you back, you may not even reach their newsfeed when they hop on because they may be following tons of people.

Noah Kagan had a nice case study on this - Google it and you should find it.

The last thing I want you to do is to put forth a lot of effort to grab TONS of followers, and then realize that none of them want what you're trying to sell or promote anyways.

Because the end goal is to make money, right?

Just my 2 cents :)

You may be right, BUT a lot of followers (fake or follow back followers) gives you authority for the engaged followers. With a big number comes the trust.

It's sad, but it's like this.

I follow 900 people / day atm, with a 2 month old account and never had problems. Even tho, the follow back ratio ain't so great, only around 100-150 follow back.
