I spend about 8 hours working in front of my computer. Since it is my own work, I have to do it with complete dedication (mainly content writing work). I am currently 24 and from last few days I am having little pain in the back. As a precaution, I had reduced the number of hours spent daily. Any suggestions regarding this ? I have worked in a company where I had to sit in front of computer for 8 months and I never faced any issues. Why is it happening this time ?

    Physiatrist for backpain.......
@OP: Stop sitting for long time. Take breaks at frequent intervals. I too faced this issue 1 year before and since then i don't sit for long hours. Start exercising for atleast 15 minutes per day at your home. Simple stretching exercises.

Maybe the chair you used at your previous job supported your back better.

Stretch often and do some exercises. That should help your back if the problem is muscular. If it's a neurological problem (shooting/burning pains), visit a doctor. Get well soon. :)

I am using cosco's cycle it is static and you can exercise with it at home. It has one model that makes hand movements while cycling. See if you can get it, it worked out for me just fine.

    1. You HAVE to take a short break every 15 minutes, then 10-15 minutes break every 45 minutes.

    2. Forget about all the "ergonomic," "president," etc. chairs, buy a chair with good back and arm support - a solid kitchen chair will do just fine.

    3. Start exercising AFTER you see a doctor - there is no such thing as "this is good for your back." What is good for one person's back could do serious damage to another person's back. It all depends on your health, physical fitness, age, etc.

    4. If the pain gets bothersome or persistent, see a DOCTOR - do NOT see a chiropractor, shaman, or "that guy that went to medical college and dropped out after the first semester" - you need to see a doctor!

    5. Posture - very important, you need to have your feet firmly on the ground when sitting behind a desk; do not slouch.

    6. When lifting heavy stuff - make sure you lift with your legs rather than with your back; your leg muscles are much bigger and stronger.

    - drink more water..don't get dehydrated
    - hang upside down (inversion table or boots)
    - do ab exercises to strengthen your core
    - do some light cardio - walk or jog
    - you could try a standing desk
    - sleep on an grounded sheet - this shit seriously works - http://www.longevitywarehouse.com/category-s/43.htm
    - although it could be bullshit, in Chinese medicine lower back pain means that you are low in "jing energy" so google "jing foods"

These are just my opinions and how I cured my lower back pain.

If you don't exercise (even walking), then eventually you're health is fucked. period.

Try to change your seating position. Its not good if you are always in the same position. Also if you have a notebook, it maybe good to work while standing for 10 minutes per hour or so...

It could be that it isnt related to your sitting but to something else.

But think about how you sit, have your back straight, not lying in the chair
If you can, get up once a while and just walk around in the room, visit the toilet, get coffe or something
If you have the possibility try to stand up and work instead of sitting down, its quite nice acctually to working standing up
