Obviously content is the key here

You need to learn how to do niche research in order to decide what you want your blog to be about. There are many free courses on the internet that teach you step by step so go read up, dont create a website blind. It will most likely be a waste of time.

If you are prepared to write alot of content go search for 30 day crashed challenge - it is a really good guide to creating a successful blog. Mix in some keyword research and some link building and you'll have a good blog in no time.

If your not too hot on content, then I guess you need to go microniche - do some keyword research and get an exact match domain then get a bit of content and your good to go-

That's coming from a noob to be honest:) but I think it's roughly right!!

I have had my blog going for about 4 weeks and getting about 50 uvs per day. Also have a microniche blog that makes a little bit...

One of the most important things is finding a niche market that doesn't have too much competition.
Even if you think you're getting into a 'big' market, odds are you are going to get eaten alive by the big boys. It's best to play in a small pool by yourself than to get your face punched in by the bullies in the market.
    1. Choose a niche that looks pretty fresh
    2. Stick with a small niche at first, build up from there
    3. Stick with something you enjoy, or are personally passionate about
The last one is super important, it will be the gateway for you to keep writing more GREAT content.

I love the internet...because to me almost everything is "worthwhile". .com Domains these days cost a cheap $10 or less per year. So let's play the numbers game...

Say you work an hour a day on your blog for a month (about how long it takes to add a good 400 word fresh post and do other maintenance). That's 30 hard hours of long work.

Now lets say that blog makes 40$ per year. Whats 40 per year? Almost nothing. Almost all BHW members would complain about that. It's about 11 cents a day. If you have 30 good posts in there you will easily continue to make $40 each year.

With the cost of the domain, $10 per year, you will only be making $30 per year.

So after a full month you are making your 11 cents a day and your highly discouraged...you were hoping for better...

    But wait.

If you live for 50 more years your blog is going to end up bringing in $1500 profit. It came slowly but it did come. Let's see...you worked for 30 hours on that blog...that comes out to be $50/hour. Let's see that kind of wage at a fast food restaurant!

But wait, it gets much better. You only worked an hour a day on that blog. In reality, you should be working 5-6 hours on IM. So run 5-6 blogs at a time. At the end of each month, start over on new blogs.

But wait, it gets even better. After making blogs your skills are going to improve. You are going to make better content, monetize professionally, find better keywords, and do better SEO. You are going to start making blogs that continually earn you $2-$3 or more everyday. Now imagine the potential behind that!

My final tip: When making a blog, organize your time. IMO the best ability Wordpress has is the scheduled poster. Spend one full day and write all 30 articles for your blog, each one centered around a good keyword. Then use the scheduler and schedule them for random times during the next month (one per day). The content is the hard part, break your fingers and spend the whole day writing and you will be amazed how much time you have during the rest of the month.

social media marketing ? It's a huge niche. If you really have much interest and passion towards it, go for it. With lot of hard work, you can reach your target and become one of the leading blogs soon. But, if you're with a money making mind then try some less competitive micro niche which is easy to achieve the target. If you some personal tips on how to start with, feel free to PM me :)

The most important thing is that it needs to be interesting no matter what niche market you are in. That's what people get caught up in, think about the content first and how to make it pop in the users eyes.

Great post from hellohello! I would follow that advise! Sounds good.

I would say in addition, research all your keywords well and do write about something with too high competition.

Also if you have money to spend, build a few links to each post (find some good services here on bhw).

    Good luck;)
