There's lots of software out there that do almost identical things. If you can only sell it on price you will still find a Market for it.

Ouch - another thread baiting hook caught right in my jaw.

The CR version of nuke was announced MONTHS ago (May?)
I feel bad for you - but your market research is WAAAAAY out of date.

But then that's rollox isn't it. No one REALLY hiring staff throwing big bucks and working to make a really big project like this would be so naive not to know his major competition had an upgrade annouced months ago.
Not a developer I'd have any confidence in anyway

This is a post bait thread from a Nuke fanboy reminding the community that CR is due out soon (in fact the last release I read said "by August" it now "is August" so it's late.

Can't wait to get your bait hook out of my mouth and get some TCP on that.

Nice bait my man. Kudos to you. Thanks given for the reminder as well

I think you were very naive in thinking that a product in the market won't try improving its features to stay alive in its industry. You should have been more ambitious with your goals, especially, if you're going to compete in such a market, where a product and/or company already existed. A BIG research before diving in would help you a lot. Lesson learned.

But once you invested money and everything you could in this project, my suggestion is that you proceed anyway. Change some features, make the maximum alteration you can accordingly to all your possibilities and release the product to the market, as soon as possible. People've gotta see at your product something different from the one already existed.

The point in releasing your product to the market, as soon as possible, is to allow your product to be seen and received criticism whatever it is. So you'll be able to improve your competition rate and have a clear scenario of what the users are wishing.

XCR release was announced on May 31st 2012:
    Code:
    [URL]http://www.senuke.com/blog/?p=261[/URL]
    [URL]http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/black-hat-seo/446488-senukex-getting-updated-senuke-xcr-august.html[/URL]
It's been announced on the Nuke forums as well. They 'claim' the release date is now next month.

Someone claiming to be developing a competitor to Nuke (which would be a big project in any case) and has only just found out about XCR?

    I don't think so. ;)

Just finish it and sell it for a cheaper price. Once you get more time, you can do updates too and maybe give special "package" for more money etc.

In any case, I wish you much luck with it. Hope your work and effort won't be for nothing.
    Good luck! :)

It will be hard to compete with SENuke. The developers said they spent $150,000 in development, and I believe it. That's also one of the reasons I haven't had my guys try to create something like that yet. I mean, sure you could charge less but that means either, you're going to have to pay yourself a lot less or the product will need to be made on a smaller budget, and therefor the quality of the software may be at risk. However, I started with a keyword tool, because I knew that Market Samurai was falling. It was a easy opportunity to get into the market.

I have 2 recommendations for you:

    1. Continue to create what you have, don't derail things. When you are neck and neck with them (i.e. all the same features that work as well as them). Get innovative and change course with your product by being innovative! This is what people want anyway. Something that can do as much as the competitor but also give them something new. You were doing this anyway, and all this new version will do is delay the innovation part one or two more cycles. You can use use price-points until you are neck and neck and you will still make bank and have satisfied customers.

    2. Stop production, and create an addition to SEOnuke. Take for example what happens with Photoshop. They have a few competitors that are pretty close to them. But there are thousands of developers who say screw making the same product let me make a module that works with the product to leverage what is already out there and make it 1000x better, and useful to a certain nich crowd. So take your innovations and make them work hand-in-hand with SEO nuke. You product can do something then hand it off to SEO Nuke to complete it, or you can take something from SEOnuke and make it better then spit it back into SEO nuke to finish the distribution job. This is where you need to use your brains. So if you have the innovation you said, i.e. you were working on a portion of the new version on your own, then you have the brains to make this happen and it'll be much easier on you.
