    Guys,
    I have had it.
let me give you a little background, maybe you can help me.
About January 2010, I started this business. The only form of advertising I have done is SEO. meaning, all my clients find me online.
At first, I built links using blog comments and article sites. my site slowly rose from page 8 to page 4 to page 3.
Then, I started to realize it's kind of dangerous to spam because this is a legit business registered under my name...and if my domain is known as a spammer, all my emails to clients may end up in their spam box. and if clients dont receive my emails, then my whole business is crippled.
so I stopped spamming and signed up with BMR. I have been writing and writing since 2 months ago. on average, 10 links per day. so thats 1200 links.
now the problem: my site is stuck on page 2. it will not move. sometimes its 15, sometimes 14, sometimes 12....but thats the only movement.

the keyword gets 5000 exact searches per month and the guys on page one are:
    PR8
    PR7
    PR3
    PR6
    PR5
    etc. etc.

If I was number one for this keyword, I would make bank. I approximate maybe $1,000 a day. Right now I am getting a lot of people visiting the site from that keyword, but I am making nothing. (because the people who bothered to go to page 2 are probably not serious enough anyways).
maybe the keyword is too competitive? maybe I should pick something easier?
But the problem is I AM GREEDY! I want the good keyword.
How do real SEO companies get their clients way up there? what am I doing wrong?

Different SEO companies use different tools and those tools depend on how much cash you are willing to pull out of your wallet. It is always better to learn the tools yourself than pay someone else since it will be more profitable for you in the end. First off, I highly recommend you create more sites than stick with just one site to focus on. Keep adding unique content and get more backlinks from various sources (Forum profiles, bookmarks, social networks, articles, etc.) and you will move up in position. Also, with those ranks you mentioned, it may be difficult to become #1. a PR7 website is a high authority website along with the PR8 so the best chances you have from what I am reading is possibly landing on page 1 but definitely not #1 anytime soon.

Actually, it can get you there alone. It depends not only on your onpage SEO but how well your competition is optimized. I've seen it happen but in this case, with all those high PR's on the 1st page, it is more than likely not going to happen.

    1. I dont want to do forum profiles because I dont want to lose my domain for spamming. I have spent 1.5 years of my life building a reputation, and i cannot lose it
    2. what do you mean by create more sites? do you mean create a bunch of fake companies in the same business? or do you mean I should try looking into starting different businesses?

    1) Do forum profiles to your web 2.0 properties so you are safe.
    2) I assume you are focusing on one site and one business. In this case, you need to create web 2.0's and start building links from there. It will help you out in the SERPs.

    1) Get a less competitive keyword that is related to your keyword and do 301 direct
    2) PPV, and you'll most likely appear in your competitor website
    3) Adword
    4) Advertise in Forum, Fiverr etc.
Mind telling me more about the SEO services that you're offering? I might also become your customer

Is this for a local business with local clientele?

Or it for a generic global keyword?

well, right now most of my clients are local. but theoretically, everything can be done online so I could become global.

just out of curiosity are you making absolutely nothing? or just not a lot? I just can't see how making $0 to $1000 would happen just from going page 2 to 1. Maybe its possible though.

    You expect to beat:

    PR8
    PR7
    PR3
    PR6
    PR5
    etc. etc.

With a fairly new site and just using BMR
You are going to need a ton of power links not garbage BMR links... have you seen those site. They are shit.

    Home Page:
Focus on getting some high quality links.

And start targeting some other keywords that are easier to rank for. That way you are getting some traffic while your site builds authority. Make inner pages to target the other keywords.

If you want high quality traffic, some specific long tail keywords are probably better than the main keyword, if you find them.

Hey man, you forgot the most important step:
Hug your website and cry over its shoulder.
Or comment, "Nice ass" or something.

Ok, in all seriousness, use Traffic Travis and do an on-page SEO analysis of your competitors and yours. Make sure you are ranked A+.

I would go this route. If you can start ranking for some long tail keywords it will start building up authority on your site, which will make it much easier to rank for your competitive keyword. At the same time getting you more traffic "clients" while you are waiting.

Please note the this is a slower method, but since you are not doing blackhat this is a much more permanent business model that will last longer.

lol @ the idiots who think on page SEO is going to get you #1 here.

Clearly your targetting a very competetive keyword. I can assure you that your not going to hit the #1 spot easily and certainly not with 99% of the information you read on this forum.

Your going to need some powerful & targetted links, lots of them, and its going to take time. Your going need to to devote a lot of time & effort to get the #1 spot here.
