Right so I called about 30 new businesses this morning and offered to write and submit a press release for them. 4 said yeah, and I stayed on the phone with them and walked them through paying me via paypal.

Now, I'm going to outsource the writing part on fiverr. But where do I submit the press releases?

    thanks in advance.

    Try PRlog, it's free.

Also, why exactly are you cold calling to sell a service you have no idea about?! lol

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

Sounds like something SEOSteve would have done. LOL. Or who was the guy a few months ago that promised to get a site to #1 on Google and collected like a few thousand dollars, and then came on here begging people to tell him how to do it? Actually I think that might have been SEOSteve. There was also another guy a few months back that also collected several thousand dollars promising to populate some kind of music industry social networking site with like 10000 real members in 6 months (or something like that), but had only gotten like about 50-100 new members, and with only about a week or two left he came here begging people to tell him how to accomplish his project. Selling a service you've never actually tried is usually a recipe for failure from the start.

@OP - Kudos for deciding to take action. That's the biggest problem for most people is getting started. But before you decide to pick up that phone to make coldcalls, you should at least try a test run of what your going to offer. If you know the process in advance, it'll actually give you a lot more confidence when your making the calls. More importantly as soon as you make the sale you'll already know how to deliver on your promises.

Fortunately what your needing isn't as hard as getting to page 1 on google or finding 10000 new members for a startup forum. You've been given a few options by the other posters in this thread, so you should be ok this time.

Next time remember to at least make a test run of the service you want to offer before going out to sell it.

Maybe you want to contract those press releases out to me for $200 each lolz.

Months back I landed on a lucrative php programming contract, when I barely can read html. So I ended up having accounts in freelancer etc. to subcontract things out and profit in between. It is still good money.

That's true. You don't actually need to know how to do the exact service your selling to still be successful with it. But people should still make an effort to know where they will be subcontracting the job to before trying to resell the service. In fact if your going to use that business model it's very important to know what subcontrators you will be using beforehand. That way you know what your cost will be so you can mark it up accordingly.

I have a list of a thousand. I would be willing to do it for a fee. Are these people looking to gain rankings or just get their name out there?

    Thanks for the input guys.

Regarding me not having any idea how to get the job done, that's not entirely true. I vaguely remembered seeing the words "press release submission" on marketing forums before, and was fairly certain I could outsource it. I wanted to do it myself, but it seems like a pain.

Why don't you download some article submitting software and submit the hell out of your article. Just lurk some.

Alternatively, you can start a thread and ask other members to do it for you.

There's a guy who's well reviewed doing this for a lot less than $300. Get him to do it and you just made 50%

Fiverr also offers press release submission gigs and so you could get it all done on fiverr.com

However i would make sure your clients see some results for $300 i would be ticked off it nothing came from it!

I'm a newbie, and I'm not sure if I'm already allowed to post links here. However, go to a search engine like google and type ''press release submission'' on the search box. On the second search result, you'll see a website that features 50 press release submission websites. Another piece of advice, is to hire someone online and pay them $ 10.

Great work! I'd just go to one of the search engines and google in "free press releases"...if you can sell press releases you should try and upsell them to article marketing and hosting their own blog etc.
