    hello all,

i had a question about trying to hurt my competitions SEO and wanted to hear your thoughts.

some of my competitors have 1000s of link, alot of which are spammed links.

i was thinking about pinging all their links and having those pages get crawled.

i hoping this will hurt them in two ways,
    1. if those links no longer exist when the page is recrawled the will loose them and thus their link count will go down
    2. since alot of the links are spam, im sure its safe to assume since the time of their link being crawled more people have spammed it as well. thus when its crawled again the will recieve less link juice due to there being more spammers.

am i wrong in my thinking? something im missing? is there anyway that this could help there seo?

another thing i was thinking about doing is some of my competitors have paid text links in articles. on some of these pages they are the only links on the page. i was thinking about also buying links on these pages (only around $1-5$ a link) and thus building links for myself while taking away their link juice.

is this a bad idea, am i missing something?

thanks in advance for the advice :)

I've done something similar when trying to reverse engineer a competitor. If their link no longer existed on a page where YSE said it existed, I pinged it. My experience was that it had no effect on their ranking. But those competitors turned out to be really easy to beat anyway.

In my opinion and experience, there is nothing you can do to hurt your competitor.

Yep I agree. If all there links are crap why spend the time messing where there links. go out and build you 100 good links and i am willing to bet that you move way up when you have the good stuff.

The best method to hurt your competititon's SEO is..... *drum roll* Doing better SEO on your site!

If you don't know how, read more on BHW, try stuff, and see what happens.

If you would rather hurt them because you aren't good enough to make your SEO better than theirs, or won't take the time to learn, then I think you are a useless bag of shit who should quit the internet.

Hope that sums it all up!
