the company I'm working my 9-5 job at is running a huge special interest YouTube channel with 95% all-original-content on it. The channel was started back in 2011 and currently we have almost 3000 videos uploaded and 145.000 subscribers. Our videos have 102.000.000 views overall and everytime we upload a new video it reaches between 5k and 20k views in the first 24 hours (depending on the topic).
Interaction is also great: In 2016 so far we gained 170k upvotes, 14k comments and our content was shared 50k times. The demographic analytics show that 95% of our viewers are male and the strongest age groups are 25-34yrs (34%), 35-44yrs (21%), 45-54yrs (18%) and 18-24yrs (17%).
All videos are in german language and therefore we get a lot of traffic from Tier1 countries like Germany, Switzerland, Austria or Italy. YouTube/Adsense monetization is enabled of course.
Now comes the problem: Our earnings from adsense range between 2800€-3500€ per month which seems a bit low to me. Two years ago we almost made 6k per month until we were told by YouTube staff that there were changes made in ad formats and the way ads are delivered to viewers. Our revenue dropped from 6k to 0€ for two days and after that it stabilized at around 3k per month. But no matter how many videos we upload, we can't grow the revenue effectively since that.
Do you have any ideas on how to influence the CPM for the better? Our CPM is between 3,8-5,5€ on the channel. Isn't that much to low for the quality/quantiy of our traffic? Do you know of any alternative monetization tactics?
