    I posted this in the WH section but got not even a whisper...please dont hate me for re posting in the BH section. But I sense this is where most of the genuises live :)

    I have changed my server and now my site is http://www not https://www.

    All my seo efforts went to https

    Now the serps still show the https links which are all dead - thus no traffic..

    do I need to start all over again reposting these links?

    Just set up in your hosting account a 301 redirect going from https://www to htttp://www
    That way no matter where people find your link they will be redirected to the right place.

    Btw, not a legend either but thanks regardless :D

    Agreed - add a permanent 301 redirect - if you can do it through a .htaccess file all is good - or if not, do it through PHP (if you're running it)-

    Code:
    if(strstr("https", $myurl)){
       str_replace("https", "http", $myurl);
       header("location: " . $myurl);
    }

    I think it's 401's you thinking of. G would rather prefer a 301 than a blank empty page when it crawls.

    Don't let them fleece you. It's a 5 minute job.

    I found this snippet to put in your .htaccess file (best way to do it):
    # Redirect HTTPS requests for non-secure folders to http
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} !80
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ h++p://www.mydomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
