Hi Highbids, It is definitely better than a free one. The similar question has been asked before. Just search the forum. You will find a lot of helpful info you need to know about hosting. I used to have a Godaddy hosting. It is noob friendly and you can get a free hosting with them if you are o.k. to have their ads on your page. Hope this helps.
i use one of gd's unlimited hosting plans with which u can have any number of sites up at the same time for one monthly fee. it's great for blogs, minisites, etc since none of those requires a ton of bandwidth.
Their cPanel is prety decent. There is no problem to use it even if you new to hosting. If you would like to save couple bucks then go with hostgator. They have 1c hosting for the first month.
Like they said, anything is better than free hosting but...... Avoid Godaddy hosting if you can. Navigating their site is a pain in the ass. Having to login and then immediately login again is a pain in the ass. Go with hostgator.
Don't use godaddy if you have a spike trafic they will cut your database connection. Godaddy is good for domains buy
can i get a domain through godaddy, web hosting through host gator and use wordpress to power my site?
Sure, and with hostgator it comes with fantastico that you can use to install wordpress with just a few clicks. Simple sites at godaddy are fine but when I need something with php/mysql I go for hostgator and you will always have less headaches.
I have been using Godaddy's unlimited hosting plan for well over 2 years now. I have no complains, I love it. I can do everything I ever wanted/needed to do with a hosting account. Buying a new domain and setting it on the hosting account is very easy.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO............. Avoid godaddy hosting at any cost. They are okay for regostering domains (if you can stomach THE WORLD'S worst checkout processes) but AVOID them for hosting. ONLY go with a hosting specialist. Type "godaddy" and "nightmare" in... Of course.. bad news always travels faster and deeper so on the basis that they market the sphincter out of their services i guess we can expect them to have the most bad press volume. Still.. I hate them. Control panel is horrific and sharing with 35 trillion others all wth videos and spamming intentions really isnt my thing.
I have 14 domains with GoDaddy and their unlimited package. It's great for HTML sites but if you have a site relying on a database there are <multiple> times of the day where the speed is just terrible, even without heavy traffic. There are days where my database websites take 10-30 second to load and there is no traffic (the site is optimized very well) I'm not sure what it's like with Hostgator, but my current websites are sharing a server with 3200 other domains... Their tech support ranges from good to flat out bad (it took them a week and a half of 2-3 emails a day to figure out why my FTP was down, they kept suggesting I tried the same thing that they suggest earlier, even after I provided detailed analysis' of the problem) I'm kinda ticked at them and I'm ready to drop them even though I'm only a few months into this year's plan
If they didn't have hot chicks in their tv commercials they be pretty useless Definitely go with anyone else but them. Hostgator has been great for me and then I use Namecheap for domains with their free Whois protection
