    My typical consumer is

    A) A Soccer, Basketball, Football, Hockey Coach looking to improve his players focus

    AND

    B) The parent of an athlete who is trying to give their kid an extra competitive edge.

If you had $7000 to market this product which retails for about $20 how would you most effectively spend the $7,000?

All I can really think of is taking out Banner Advertisements on prominent coaching websites or Spending a lot of money trying to rank for "Hockey Coaching Aids" or similar keywords, which I am not sure if I would be capable of doing

It's hard to fully say without knowing what your product is but Ill give it a go. It sounds like steroids ;)

Start some sort of "Team" that is associated with your product. Sponsor (give free products) some known athletes/coaches/whatever. This will make people curious about the product and eventually make them want to buy it because someone they respect uses it. Your best bet will be to create a brand. Think of everything that it will entail. Look at similar companies and replicate what they are doing with a twist.

Also, go local. This will be huge for your project so don't underestimate its power. Utilize local soccer fields, basketball courts, sports stores, etc. Get in touch with local teams. Hell, maybe even sponsor a local team.

    Anyway, good luck.

Whatever your product is you will be best served by being at the tourneys with your product.
Hands down the best way to push sports related products.

    Thanks for the quick response!

Haha no not steroids, it's actually a digital download that helps teams with their focus so I can't really sell it in sports stores. I am in the midst of creating an app version of it right now but currently its software. I have several professional teams using it but have got them only through tedious emailing. I want a more automated way where I am not spending hours writing articles and such.

I will definitely be able to get some local publicity soon I hope as well

downloads do well with some type of free trial. you also make alot more if you offer upsells. you could offer a $1 free trial. and you could invest some of your money in marketing to customers that clicked off the order form. you might also make alot more in the long run if you charged a continuity, and made it more of a training program with a new update every week/month.
