Okay I was thinking about this a little while ago and it really made me want a second opinion on this -

CPA account managers deal with people all day long that are making tons of money doing CPA marketing... they SEE FIRST HAND the potential, they get to see what is working and what is not, they get insider secrets and they most likely know the game just as good as anyone... so then HOW .. OR WHYYY DO THEY STAY ACCOUNT MANAGERS!?

I mean what is their motivation, if they see that they could easily be making so much more!? How much do they get paid... anyone know? LOL... surely not more than they would if they were to do some CPA marketing themselves. The CPA networks must be losing and hiring new CPA account managers at a phenomenal rate, or the CPA managers must get paid pretty good money for them to want to stay an account manager after they see all of the money people are making with CPA....

    It just doesn't make sense.

    Opinions?...

My understanding of the AMs is that they also get paid a % commission for any business their advertisers bring in, so really their paycheck scales just as much as an affiliate marketers does with quite a bit less work.

Canadadude is right, they get a commission. But I would think that the reason they stay is the same reason they got a job in the first place. They are too lazy or too comfortable working and too afraid to start out on their own. (just my opinion)

What makes you think that AM can easily make as much money as their affiliates. As far as I know no one ever tells their AM their method(s).

I know a guy who works as a AM with a network (gets commission) and is a BIG time affiliate with another network. :)
Although at the other network, he works under his Dad's name (for privacy). So yeah, account managers also do aff marketing.
And from what my friend tells me, all the other AMs in his company, do the same - some in small scale, while others are super affiliates.

    Hello,
I would not do business with a affiliate manager that also does his own thing in cpa.
They can steal all of your campaigns if they wanted to.
I think that any cpa companies that also allow their affiliate managers to run a campaign on the side is doing the wrong thing.

Krocks took the words out of my mouth. In another words, most of them are affiliates too. Including some network owners...

a few AMs sometimes steal campaigns as mentioned above, so be careful, it happened not once, not twice but lot more
so faking and/or hiding the referer is good for you not only because you don't want to show your traffic source, but it may be good against AMs who want to steal your methods ;)

Maybe because the AMs feel comfortable with their job.
