I've got a domain name that I was going to use, but ended up just holding it. It is a GOOD name though. Time went by and now I've begun getting offers for it... fairly low, like few hundred or so, but now I'm curious about how I can find out the true value of it. It isn't aged or anything, just a snappy name... how can I tell if the offers are fair or not? I don't wanna sell it for $400 if I could milk $5,000 or more even.

    What would you guys do?

No way of telling without revealing the domain name. Sometimes you might want to research the buyer. If a big company then they might be able to pay alot more as they might be looking to use this as brand name for a new product.

It could also be a domain not worth much but just sentimental value to someone willing to pay way more than the true value so maybe its really worth $100 and someone wants to pay $500.

Value of a domain based on just the uniqueness of then name is hard to tell. It will be down to how much is it worht to you and researching how much it might be worth to the buyer.

Interesting. Since I've had a few inqueries what about the idea of auctioning it off? Is that dumb? And if I wanted to what places are good for getting a lot of eyes?

There are many good threads and posts in BHW on this exact subject.

My advice is read those before taking action on selling...
