How to Use IFTTT Applets for Social Media Automation?

Howdy all, I have been tired of doing all those my tasks manually, so I started my research regarding find some effective service or tool to automate some of my small tasks. Finally, I ended up with IFTTT, and here, I’d like to share with you how to use IFTTT applets for automating social media tasks.

I start explaining what IFTTT is, “IFTTT - If This Then That” have been recognized the supreme automation service that automates small tasks flanked by internet-connected services, meaning it will empower you to connect 2 services, so you will be argus-eyed when an action occurs with one service.

Currently, the internet has becoming crowd-pleasing in our day-to-day life. Oftentimes, we might feel that “is there any alternatives to automate our repetitive tasks.” This is why the IFTTT comes into the court. With this awesome web-based service, you can save your precious time. It can automate everything from birthday reminders to automating your social life.

Why do you need this? This is because “
    Time is money.

    Here is, how it helps,

Before that, the most important thing to know is,

Channels (services) and Applets (previously known as recipes)

Channels – It’s nothing but a service, you can find nearly 70 different channels. Most common channels are as follows,

    • Facebook
    • Twitter
    • Tumblr
    • Instagram
    • YouTube and even much more
Applets – It lets you create powerful automated tasks amongst various apps and services. The applets are something that triggers an action when something happens on one channel.

A countless number of applets is out there in IFTTT.com. We can choose the one based on our tasks. Using the IFTTT applet, you can automate your task. I used a simple IFTTT applet “
Archive every time you're @mentioned to a Google spreadsheet” as it automatically archives every time someone @ mention me on Twitter to a Google Spreadsheet. And, it automatically saves a spreadsheet to a folder called “Twitter” in my Google drive.

And, another best IFTTT applet for social media automation is “build a twitter list from a specific hashtag.”

Defiantly, this is a competent way of adding anybody who mentions a particular hashtag on Twitter to a twitter list.

To do that, you should create a Twitter list. Secondly, you need to use that applet named “build a twitter list from a specific hashtag.”

The next step is to instruct an applet to automatically add tweets with a specific conference or event hashtag that you’re specified to a Twitter list. If the applet found it, then it will automatically add that person’s twitter profile to your list.

    Is it really works?

These days most events or conferences have a hashtag, and they are tweeting contents on social media. Through this, we can automatically gather a list of influencers who have attended the event or conference.

Automatically sharing Instagram Photos on other social media networks,

Another useful applet is “promote your business by sharing Instagram photos with Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, & Facebook pages.” This applet shares new posts on your business Instagram account as native image posts on other channels include Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Facebook pages.

With this applet “Post your Instagram images as native Twitter pictures,” you can make your Instagram photos to show up in your Twitter feed as a full image rather than a link.

This applet “Automatically post your Instagram photos to Tumblr”, automatically shares the image on your Tumblr blog, when you post a new photo on Instagram.

How to Automate Tasks using IFTTT?

To get started, the first step you should do is creating an account with IFTTT.

Step 1: Go to IFTTT.com and create an account.

Step 2: Once, you’ve signed in, you will find a variety of applets.

Step 3: Using the search tool, you can explore different services like Twitter, Facebook, and so on.

Step 4: Choose the particular service you want.

Step 5: In the particular service, you can choose a list of different applets.

Step 6: Choose the one that you want.

Step 7: Finally, turn on the applet to automate your task.

You can use the built-in Applets as well as you can create your own both in IFTTT.com site and IFTTT mobile apps.

Procedures for Creating Your Own Applet is as follows,

Here is how to create an Applet on IFTTT.com,

After creating an account with IFTTT, follow the below steps,

Step 1: Click on your username in the upper right corner.

Step 2: On that drop-down menu, select the New Applet.

Step 3: Immediately, you will see “If +this then that,” then click “+this.”

Step 4: Choose a service from the list.

Step 5: Choose a Trigger, based on what you want to do.

Step 6: Then, fill in the trigger fields.

Step 7: Next, you should click “+that,” when you’ve done the trigger fields.

Step 8: Simply, choose an Action service.

Step 9: Complete Action fields and click “Finish.”

Steps to TURN OFF and DELETE an Applet,

If you want to turn off an Applet, you can do it by toggling the “On icon” located next to your Applet. It will switch to “Off.”

In order to delete an Applet, you can delete using the IFTTT app.

Step 1: Click the settings icon located in the upper-right corner of the Applet card.

Step 2: Scroll down and click “Delete” to remove the Applet.

That’s it. You’re done. IFTTT is really a wonderful tool that you can use for automating tasks in your life and using it really fun at the same time.

Did you use IFTTT? What’s your favorite IFTTT applet? Which applet made your task easier than ever? Share here and have fun.

Yes mate, you can try it with Pinterest also. This is the applet I liked more "Pin new Wordpress posts to a Pinterest board". It helps me to automatically publish a link, picture, and title to a Pinterest board, whenever I publish a new post on my WordPress blog. Try yours and share here what you liked the most.

These are some of the Bookmarking services you can use Bitly, Delicious, Diigo, Inoreader, Instapaper, Narro, Pinboard, and Pocket in IFTTT.
If you click the particular bookmarking services, you can find a lot of applets in each service. In that, you can choose whatever you want based on your need.

    Steps to follow:
    • Once you’ve created the account in IFTTT.com
    • Sign in into your account
    • Click “search option”
    • Enter “Bookmarking” in the search
    • Then, pick your choice from the list.
    • As soon as you find the bookmarking service, click on that and choose your applet to trigger your action.
If you're having any doubts, I'm happy to resolve it mate.

I used the inbuild and tried to figure it all out with the custom but that failed totally. I will have a look at it again, now it is at least 8 months since I have been there because I got irritated on this service :)
