I'm looking at a competitors domain and can't seem to get the links pointed to their subdomains. Trust me, I'm no rookie to Ahrefs.com but I can't seem to get this to work.

Let's use Typepad as an example, I type typepad.com and use the *.domain/* query. Upon searching I see 28 M backlinks. When I click on the 28 M links I then see that number drastically drop to 28 K backlinks and not 28 million links that exist. Finding the links to the ROOT domain works fine, but how do I find links to ALL subdomains of a domain?

How do I see all 28,000,000 links in this example? Feel free to try this on other domains and you'll see the same thing.

Anyone have any idea? This is the first time I've come across this that I'm aware of, is it a recent bug or have I been overlooking subdomains for a long time in link research via ahrefs?

Thanks for the inflation post, but has anyone noticed this? Its the same thing with Majestic. For smaller domains the subdomains search seems to work, but for large domains it doesn't work and you need to individually target the subdomain for backlink lookup which won't solve the problem.

Thanks, as mentioned it works fine for smaller domains. However sites with a lot of links and a lot of subdomains it doesn't work. I'm wondering if there is a work around?

Export the results via their "site report" tool. I haven't used Ahrefs for a few months now, but I used to have X full reports per month and I used that to generate an Excel file with 100% all links. Then I'd process it on my PC.

I dont think they can show those many links, even google would often show so many results but when you try going for all, you are limited to a handful.
