    Hi BHW member
I really confused on how to upload a website and database to my host.
I have website files, database file (SQL file), user and password cpanel to login.

    My question are:
+ How to upload them to my hosting account (my host is hosting many site in there). Do i need to Add-on domain then upload it to public_html/domain folder
+ How to import database file and config it to work perfectly with new location. And how to change user and password cpanel.

Please help me out of this. I search around forum, google and many site with information about that, but it's out of date, complicated and hard to understand.

    Thank you very much.

Its hard to explain over the forum, some steps require attention and you have to know what to do. You didn't say nothing relevant that will help to get some answer. What platform is used to build the site ? Which hosting server ?
In general, you have to transfer files to ftp server, for that you'll need ftp client like WinSCP ,Filezilla or firefox addon FireFTP or any other ftp client that you prefer, that you have to connect to your Cpanel and go to phpmyadmin and import database file, database credentials you have to put in config.php of your site on server (if we talk about wordpress installation) , ....

Login to your control panel and look for something called fantastico. This will install wordpress for you. google hostgator fantastico and click on the first link that comes up for directions.

Well, upload database, wp-config.php and wp-content folder all together to mediafire, set to private and send me link. Also send me a link to your hostgator account and username / password for login, and login details for wp-admin.

Lol, sorry. I reread your thread and don't know why I got the idea that you just wanted to install a fresh copy of wp. Must have been a late night.

It is not that hard but better to google proper guide to do it.
    if fast
    1)integrate a database to a new host
1.1 create database on new hosting
    1.2 export your file
1.3 Change the field option_value. The old value is replaced with a new http://www.wp1.ru http://www.wp2.ru and click OK:
1.4Likewise, change the value of home.

    2. Transferring files to new host
2.1Before you copy files to a new host, you must change the connection to the database in the file wp-config.php.
    DB_NAME - Name Database
    DB_USER - the user name
    DB_PASSWORD - user password
DB_HOST - address / name of the database server
Once the data connection to the new database server maintained by ftp-client upload files to a new hosting site....

Well, I'm not sure if that was a wrong answer. I was thinking the same as istart. In post #3 you mention yourself that you are using Wordpress and Hostgator ... And Hostgator has Fantastico build in. So ...

Anyway, good luck uploading your site.

he can install wp over fantastico or fast install and just transfer wp-content (plugins and theme) over ftp and change wp-config.php to match details from database. before that have to import his existing database file into new created database. and all that sound easy but first timers almost always will mess something.
