How to trick viewers into clicking your PPC ads

I was browsing this thread, and I came up with an interesting concept.

Create a mock video player with an iframe in the center. Clicking the play button loads a page with ads and a fake start button in the iframe; sort of like the pre-loaders you'll see in some third party FLV Players.

On clicking the "start" button in the center of the iframe they're actually going to end up clicking one of the ads.

I still get the exact same problems in both firefox and explorer. Maybe the DNS servers are still switching over though?

Maybe you're right. I'll know for sure at the end of the month. But I've never heard about this particular idea being implemented anywhere so maybe they'll take long enough to catch on for me to make a buck or two ;).

Nope, it should all be up and running. In fact, the CTR has gone back up and some people on the forum are reporting improvements.

I have an idea to fix the problem once and for all even on a slow connection that I'm gonna code, hopefully that will solve things.

How far did you go? Tell us what you did exactly? We have been implementing a similar technique without troubles.
 
FYI: Approximately 12 hours after switching servers, the CTR was over 20%. Now I put in a randomizer so it went back down to 13% or so, and hopefully it will be down to less than 10% at the end of the day, but this just goes to show that this works on the user side of things. Now I'm gonna send some crap traffic that I know won't click to mess with the CTR so I can turn the randomizer script back off.

Hopefully bidvertiser won't notice.
 
Perhaps if you change the add to white background, with white hyperlink and white text it wont be so noticeable when the finger is hovering...

Just a thought.

I thought of that, but didn't do it for two reasons:
1) Bidvertiser would probably catch on fast (people clicking on ads that can't be seen by naked eye)
2) For some reason it seemed like the blue background + bulbs on video player made the hand less noticeable. It turns out that it relies on the similarity principle of Gestalt psychology and with the blind spot when the average person focuses on the play button. I have yet to experiment with the size of the video player to get this exactly right, though.

Yeah, the Bidvertiser idea was giving me too much trouble so I switched back to something more classic and much better-converting.

Edit: If you want to know which network I'm using PM me.

No offense, but google is too smart for me. Try this out with adbrite or something first. I wouldn't recommend getting banned from adsense.

With the proper php code to check certain criteria, you can filter out affiliates, and at the same time increase your CTR tremendously. Think of it as a grayhat (not blackhat) cookie stuff, since the user is actually clicking your link.

Genjutsu is right this idea is good, but not for 100% BH, if you have a site that gets clicks, you could use this to double or tripple your income. Theres a lot of vaerities to this basci method, i can't say that using silverlight is the best since not a lot of people have it. You can do something similar with php and/or javascript.
