Adword gurus, hi Need your help with following: 1. I am using clicky to track the visitors on my site, and adwords to bring the visitors. Let say i have 3 main exact keywords: [keyword 1], [keyword 2], [keyword 3] they all lead to home page. How do i know which keyword 'brought' the customer? I did some 'spying' around and find that structure some advertisers use: when searching for "movers nyc" one advertiser showed landing url as "domain c o m?st-t=adwords&vt-k=movers nyc&vt-mt=e&rid=gaw&keyword=movers nyc&st-t=adwords&vt-k=movers nyc&vt-mt=e&gclid=CLG4TTT3rc8CFYcmhgodldkJbg" How do they get keyword? Do i have to create custom parameter for each ad, ad group? (that can work only for exact match keywords) Or is there universal variable that returns the keyword that i can put in tracking template for all account/compaign? 2. Also what is the use of gclid? We can not decode it to get the keyword or ad? So why we need it at all? What data does gclid gives us, that we do not get from adwords data and tracker(clicky in my case) Most of advertisers i've checked use gclid, so seems like i am missing smng.
