    Knowing that one Paypal account can support multiple email addresses linked to it;
    Is it possible to identify customers with SAME paypal but different email addresses?

    For example; a family may only have 1 paypal account (owned by parents), and they setup an email address for their kids;
    And they purchase using their own email address (2 transactions made); How can I find out that the purchase is from the same family?

    Does it show on Paypal receipt somewhere that customer ID is the same or whatever? I dont quite see any indication tho.

    Thx.

    Actually, i was testing out a promo my competition has currently on right now;
    I used my paypal (email address #1); signed up his promo; got through
    I need used my (email address #2); signed up; but it was detected.

    So how can I set something up like this myself?
    Does each PP has its own customer ID or something?

    Thanks

    As one who has sold services, a can tell you there are a handful of people I never want to deal with again. PayPal does not give merchants the ability to block buyer accounts, despite presenting them with a history of repeated problems. I wish PayPal would do more to protect sellers by allowing merchants to enable account-wide blocks against any user they so desire.

    i think , PayPal verify both user name and address, email id should be different, if you use same email id so please first inform paypal support center.

    I dont think its THAT rare. At least not from my experience.
    There are lot of services that offer $1 per month (trail) or stuff like that.
    But the thing is; you cant sign up twice (even using different emails); so how does PayPal actually determine if you signed up before or not?
    There must be a customer ID somewhere, I assume?

    What happens when you sign up with another email address on the same account in this instance?
    Does paypal stop the transaction, or does it process it, then the vendor blocks the trial?

    Im guessing the second, but if paypal does block the transaction i would like to see some examples.

    I think its paypal that blocks the payment; it will say something like "Sorry, your method of payment cannot be used for this transaction" (for the second time).
    And btw, the method of payment is pretty default; PayPal Funds (and it worked the first time).

    PM me if you want to try it out yourself.

    They identify it through Merchant Account ID. Click on Profile in your paypal account, you'll see it there.

    Wow thanks.
    So there is no way to change that Merchant ID, i assume?

    In another words; if i want to take advantage of the free/$1 trail
    I shouldnt sign up PayPal but pay with credit card (via PayPal then)?

    I didn't look into it much, but as far as I can tell, no. Its the same for the lifetime of the account.

    Yep. If you can, pay with a vcc, reloadable preferably. Entropay has worked for me for this purpose ;)

    I havent used entropay myself but i dont think it works anymore?
    Also, i just did some quick research on merchantID, and got curious... isnt merchantID only for seller?

    Based on what i am asking, i am more of a buyer tho? I am a little confused, I might be wrong here.

    Works just fine for me.

    As far as I can tell, Merchant ID on paypal can be used to identify buyers to sellers. I haven't had a personal account for years so I can't say if its there or not for personal accounts, but it should be.

    I did this ages ago, but what I do remember is, I did some checking up when I couldn't sign up for two trials of a service from the same paypal account even after switching emails, and came across this as the reason.
