Ok lets do a little test. If your "content farms" are being de-indexed please list the following:

    1. Your keywords targeted
    2. The number of articles on your blog.
    3. What type of blog software (Wordpress, Joomla, etc.)
    4. Is your blog gone or just lost rank
    5. How many backlinks and what type of links are they?
    6. Anything else you think is relevant but need some details about you blogs.

We can pinpoint this fairly quick

I have a theory that only competitive terms are being targeted. Google needs the micro niche blogs to fill in the gaps for adwords revenue.

Clearly there are factors that they are looking for. Size may be one. I have several small autoblogs that are not de-indexed.

Use of wordpress may be a huge factor because of the available autoblog plugins.

One workaround is when you create niche blogs only post 4 or 5 original articles and there you have it. You can still rank for your terms just wont have thousand of posts. And believe me there will be a plugin soon to solve this issue. Probably many in the works as we speak.

    1. Auto Insurance Quotes

    3. Wordpress
    4. Lost rank but still indexed.
    5. Backlinks from every source from bookmarks to scrapebox.

    1. Electronic products (like digital cameras but something else, won't disclose the keyword)
    2. 60 indexed pages - 700-1800 words each (product reviews and guides)
    3. Wordpress
    4. Lost rank, still indexed. I was #1 for main family of keywords, #1 for many guide keywords, 1st page for every other keyword including the root keyword for the market (e.g. digital cameras)
    5. PageRank 3. Backlinks - a few from high-PR relevant sites, many from small relevant sites, the rest (up to about 5000-9000 links depending on tool used) natural (don't know more details)

100% witehat site, 100% original high quality useful content.
Used to rank #1 for some image searches as well, now I got to about #50 for those too.
Haven't done any SEO in the past 2 years, it grew naturally
Product reviews are outdated (no reviews of products from 2010-2011)

One competitor with a similar site PR 4, 50,000 links, 400-600 words pages (300 posts) that was ranking below me on #5-10 for some similar keywords is now de-ranked on #150-250.

    SERPs details (positions #1-20):
Before the algorithm update: big sites (PR5-8) including review agregators/mashups, me, some small relatively new sites for some lower competition keywords, some keyword domains around #20-30.
After the algorithm update: big sites (PR5-8) on first page, a very old site PR4 12 pages of content (400 words/post) and the review agregators around #20-30, some amazon affiliate autoblogs on #25-30, me around #50-70.

Basically entire 1st page is now made up of big sites, 2 of them have double or triple listing.
What i notice now is there are no keyword domains anymore. Not in the first 100 spots anyway.
