If not to go deep then visit archive.org/web and put your desired website name into search field. This will make a trick and you will see previous content, if there was any. If you want to check if domain was spammed, then one of the tools might be Seo spyglass (free version is enough for initial check). Good luck

    Thanks for the reply guys!
Ok so I did check with thos emethods and nothing comes up in google or the wayback machine. I also did a search in google "link:website" and nothing comes up either. I am thinking its safe to say it has not been used. I am just suprised cause i see others with a similar domain but they use dashes as if the one with out dashes was not available. But it is available. Do you think its safe to say the domain was never registered before? I dont want to purchase a domain with penalties.

You can check the drop out of the registrar in whois.domaintools.com site. Search your domain and check there, if there is more then 1-2 then i think it has been used by someone before...

Thank you myfault. I used whois and it says never registered before. Looks like it is clean to me. Kinda weird tho. I dont know why someone would choose a domain with dashes rather than one without. But i think ill take it.
