how to start in this industry?

Firstly, i wish to introduce. I'm a 4th grade study of financial and accounting in a good university. I also learnt MARKETING well, and i'm interested in. Lets consider i want to change the major i'm studying.

I have been looking around in BHW and many other sites, bought some ebook which was promised to be friendly to newbie. I have found out the concept of some methods. Most of newbie ebooks don't work so well. Some are blackhat which leads to closure of accounts (eg adsense). So i didn't apply them.

After months, i have studied "fundamentals of marketing" book, and some English books about marketing. My problem is, I don't know a thing about coding, editing or so...

I Don't know how to get a site running, no idea how host works, it's just a folder online ? like our hard disk? I have no idea IT things work...I can use my PC well, but when it comes to online skill, i have none. I have 3 domains, 1 host, 1 website for my class I wish to host it, but I don't know what to do...I used to upload the database to the folder where i found in my host control panel, point the domain to it, but nothing happens.

For example, I don't know how to make a blog or a forum running well. If I want to edit the theme (or whatever it's called) to fit me, i don't know how to...No ideal how to install something on a host. I read many methods, I got the concept, but don't know the way to apply them because of lacking IT skill and knowledge. I don't even know how to forward link, what landing page is

Enough said. Is there any book out there like "fundamentals of IM" or something like that. I get lost in the jungle. So many "new words" when i look up one word, there are more to come... I believe there is no university teaching this in my country. I don't want to spend another 3 years in IT course just to know how to build my own blog...and edit it my way for IM purpose. I haven't searched on internet for IM COURSE or some QUICK IT COURSE, but i found only junky ads.

Any suggestion pls, I am currently having an offline business about laptop and some game cards. it's good enough to feed my IM desire. I know i can't do all IM stuff myself, have to hire IT engineer. But if i know nothing, i can't get them to work.. There should be a place, a book to start with.

    Thanks

I really suggest you learn how to do the most basic things online first of all. Seriously.

Yes, i have found out that I HAVE TO DO IT FIRST.

so, anyone knows where and what to start with? My cousin who is an IT expert, he is working as project manager in a famous cell phone company ( i don't know what he does exactly, but he is a genius). He told me that he has no idea... Most of his knowledge weren't from school, but it's everywhere, not in 1 book.

I still hope for a place or an ebook which can teach these basis things. it's a pain to read thousands of page just for these. I can invest time for few books of IT.

Wandering on internet like BHW forums isn't really for me. it's for average ppl who knew IT things. I can understand some, but not all

Dude if you to want to make it big in this "industry" then you need to stop following what they teach you at school.. The schools are good if you want to work for a 9-5 job and make someone else rich.. However the internet marketing gives you a true opportunity to work for yourself and make money as well..

So work hard, think outside the box, read BHW and most importantly TAKE ACTION to make it big

    Hope that helps

there is no such book what you're looking for...you don't have to understand everything, you can't understand everything, if you wanna be good in something concentrete on that, if you read this forum, you can find any info what you want and you can decide what do you want to do...if you wanna do e-whoring do it, if you wanna do social marketing do it...

Most hosting companies will help you with whatever you need. I have not seen one hosting company yet that will not help, after all they make money off you and if you are happy... they know that they will keep you as a customer for a long time.

I will try to study some TOOLS then.

I have tried one, but im' stuck

For example mmocardshop.com . I really want to change something in there, but i can't. Followed some instructions but I got a blank page while trying new theme. So I left it and hired a web design company to make me a site for like over 500$, just to sell some game cards. My friends said that an experienced person with 50$ for design can make it work...

So by mastering the tools, you can create things? no IT expertise needed?

Try some wordpress or blogger blogs websites. They are dead simple, free, auto hosted, easy to customize and have dozens of different templates available.

Not sure why you would go download some html template and try to manipulate it.

Well! I was like you when I started up. No technical knowledge! If I look back 4 years I did not know how to operate Windows and boot up a system (was too busy studying - kinda a bookworm). That was a long way. I still remember the first time I was about to switch on the system and I was like - "What now! I wish this guy turns his eyes and I'll press some of the buttons". But as I told you that was a while back.

From then on I read and read and read about everything that came across my way. Now I can not only boot a system but can troubleshoot hardwares, softwares, servers and I have a fair idea of what you mean by IM. And it definitely did cost me a few motherboards, lot of hard work, fighting with viruses and adwares, dealing with hackers and very long hours (the max I remember was like 36 hours at a stretch - maybe I will be able to break that record someday). But it took me this long because I did nto want to pay anyone to teach me all of this and I also did not know where to look for. My primary place was google. and even though it is the best for some info but you realy need to know which ones the right and which ones the hype. Now i spend most of my time here on BHW.

TRUST ME FRIEND. ALL THAT YOU NEED IS ON HERE; RIGHT INFRONT OF YOU - ON BHW.

Read as much as you can.

And believe me you are lucky to know about this forum so quickly, I did not even know of this in those days I wish I did coz I know I would have been the best marketer by now and definitely filthy rich. But I will still make it, maybe a little late but I will.

My objective in writing all of this fluff is not bragging, this is my answer to your question:

    READ
    READ
    READ

If I made it, so can you.

    And as someone said
"YOU DONT NEED TO KNOW EVERYTHING. YOU JUST NEED TO KNOW WHERE TO FIND IT WHEN YOU NEED IT."
Remember this and I will get back to work now - lot of introspection and speeches!! lol

BTW now I am trying to learn C#!!!!!! Need to fine tune a bot and as usual I dont want to pay anyone.

    My 2 Cents,

Go to wordpress.org. Download latest install with documentation and read it letter by letter then go ahead and setup the blog from scratch.

By the end of this process you should have learned 90% of the "technical skills" to start IM'ing"

All you read on BHW are concepts that need to be adapted by you to something that will actually work for "YOU".

BTW nearly every ebook i read about "IM" was useless and was made for the sole purpose of making the author some aff money.

Foundation ebooks would be SEO BOOK and Perry Marshall's PPC books.

    Hope that helps

I like that one...sums up a lot of things I run into. A lot of things you do WONT work...but your gaining experience by doing it..if anything it can help you brainstorm more about it and figure out what to do right..I would say do a lot of reading..but do even more actions..People read all day long how to make money but dont do anything..start making some moves and then read some more

You're having information overload. When I take up a new subject, I just read everything possible about it and in the end things either start (or do not start) to make sense. My advice to you is, do things one step at a time. But I'd say right now, do not waste time trying to learn coding, for instance. Programming knowledge can come in handy at some point, but in the beginning you don't need it.

Study here, first, second and last. Learn any WH you want here, so that it stays in the right context (that is, in terms of making bank, through methods that ACTUALLY work, instead of things that mainly work for Google). You know many people are slaving away at white hat SEO, trying to make money in IM? Millions. How many are succeeding? Just a few. Put the odds more in your favor, by choosing about 3-4 workable BH money makers, and get moving.
