How do I start a domain name registrar and get a script?

Also How do I go about getting a new er how you call it like .me .cn

How do I get a totally NEW one registered and linked to all the world registrars?
In fact is it possible to make it so people can register ONLY on my site for the new er liek .me.cn?

Thanks a lot

The requirements to become an actual registrar are strict and costly. If you're just starting out you will not be able to become a registrar, you'll need to settle for domain reselling. If your company is big enough to be a registrar you will not be reselling or using vps's, you'll have to own physical servers and either have them colocated at a datacenter or own your own datacenter.

For example, the application fee for icann is $2500 - non-refundable. The $2500 is merely to process your application, it does not mean that your application will be accepted at all and if it isn't accepted you will not get your money back.

If your company is accepted the cost is $4000/yr + an additional monthly fee which varies from month to month.

In order to become a registrar your company must have at least $70,000 in available capital.

As you can see, unless you're planning on owning your own servers and have major investors there is absolutely no chance of becoming a registrar with icann. All the info on this is available here: http://www.icann.org/registrars/accreditation.htm

Yep - what he said.
Also - you can't start your own extension. ICANN handles all that and there is a board of directors and there is voting etc., to be able to get an extension accepted. Like the push for the .xxx extension.

If you want to sell domain registrations - I'd recommend resellerclub.com - its directi and their interface is pretty decent these days.

Well thats another good quick multi million idea down the drain-again
Less stressful and easier to find a super rich wife.

So I cannot make/input my own extensions on my own domain registration site accept money and webhost them on my own webhost?

You can always resell domains from somewhere like Godaddy.

If you can find a short domain, such as a two or three letter .com domain you could use a script to start one of those free domains companies, like co.cc, by offering subdomains.

if i were you i wouldnt go with a script or a domain registrar
