Hey good people of BHW Jay here with another bullsheet method for you guys!
This one has been tested not only by myself but my younger brother as well, and so far so good. Before we get into this notice the funny thread title, haha right? Well it’s kind of serious in the sense that literally anyone can do this, both my brother and I had zero to no experience. (apart from myself with certain tools)

These steps have worked out for me pretty good, some of you may remember my first thread about IG + OGads were I mention also working on an offline business…well this is it and so far….so good J

Now the initial investment of all this depends on your morals and ethics to be honest, my starting cost was a lot higher ($100+) than my brothers ($0) and that’s due to the fact the he simply does not give much a of a fuck and really isn’t into the whole IM thing or the internet for that matter. I say this because I will be giving you the exact same steps my brother took with my advice since they are better documented than my own story.

    The Story

Younger brother gets fired from job.
Younger brother hits up older brother to ask what he is doing for money now days.
Older brother advices younger brother on a business plan/idea.
    Younger brother takes action.
Younger brother is no longer looking nor needs a “regular job”

    The End….

    What Are We Doing?

Plain and simple gentlemen we are going to start a Web Design and Marketing business that targets local small businesses and anyone that needs a site pretty much….Holy shit Jay this is a mother fucking grand idea, why did no one think of this before?!... I get it guys it’s been done 1,000,000 times before and the local shit is so saturated its crazy right? …wrong (at least on the saturated part) So now that you know what we are doing and hopefully haven’t left the thread yet like “WTF is this guy talking about” let’s take a look at everything we will need to this.

    Tools/Things You Will Need
-Remember a lot of the cost will depend on your moral compass-

    > Adobe Photoshop CC
    > Photofiltre
    > Domain
    > Hosting
    > WordPress CMS & Premium Theme
    > PayPal Account

As you can see above that can all cost you easily hundreds of dollars, other than Photofiltre, PayPal, and WordPress everything else cost money. But like I said…there are ways to get all of them “Free” if you are a skilled Buccaneer of the High Seas…if you catch my drift. With that said let’s get on the steps necessary to do this, I will try to be a “spoon feedy” as possible for everyone that is new or old alike….here we go.

    The Method

I kept things super simple and clear with my brother and informed him that this will actually take some work and dedication on his part since he wanted to do it all for either free or with little investment. (Nothing in life is really free; you either pay with money or time.)

Step 1: Learn to make a simple PSD mockup of a website using Photoshop (Sketch is good too)

I know you’re probably thinking it takes weeks and months to learn how to use Photoshop and to be honest you are correct, it does take a long time to learn Photoshop but! You would be pleasantly surprise at how easy it is to pick up the basics Photoshop which is all you really need for this step. With the help of about 3-5 YouTube video tutorials on “How to make a website design in Photoshop” and a couple of hours each day implementing the stuff my brother was able to show me 6 decent designs the he created within the first week of him getting canned from his job. The work was nothing super spectacular but it was rather impressive for someone with little to no knowledge of design, we are both artistically gifted though however and can both draw and paint very well in my humble opinion so maybe this has something to do with it.

Step 2: Create a portfolio of the PSD mockups you have created so far (At least 5 good ones)

I advised my brother to pick 5 of his best designs and put them together in a presentable portfolio…this consisted of him just placing them on folder on his desktop name “Work stuff”
I was very proud of him to say the least and congratulated him on his massive efforts at creating and putting together a portfolio. He wanted to this for free or with little investment so we didn’t go the extra mile of putting together a live portfolio site that a potential client could go look at….so proceed to step 3.

Step 3: The Wonderful World of Craigslist

So wanting to keep this free my brother skipped the whole buying a domain and starting a web site to sell his web design services part and went straight to Craigslist to fish for clients. Most people will tell you Craigslist is dead and there is no way to land a client through it much less a web design client. Knowing that my first 3 clients that helped me launch my business all came from a similar Craigslist ad I posted, I just simple told my brother to do the same. So we wrote a compelling and awesome Craigslist services ad under the Computers section for our area, we uploaded his mock up designs and left some contact information. The title of the ad was something along the lines of “blah blah blah, Freelance web designer looking to add to his portfolio”

We also did a local search for web design related terms in Craigslist to see if anyone was looking for a designer or developer, we found a couple and send them all reply emails with a very nicely written email.

Step 4: Wait and Learn Something?

While we waited for the phone to start ringing and the email notifications to start coming in, I again advised my brother to learn something useful while we waited. To me there is no greater loss than wasting a day not learning something or trying something new, life is too damn short for that. I introduced my brother to the concept of creating a website on WordPress based on his design, for this we followed the steps I took when I first started this myself. We used an awesome little WP plug in called “Visual Composer” to sort of PSD to WordPress transfer his designs to a test domain that I had already set up with hosting.

He played around with the plug in for a couple of days and was pretty comfortable with the basics and the concepts of the plug in. I think something like a full week after uploading the ad went by before he got a reply email back from one of the people he emailed and one phone call about the ad he posted.

Step 4: You Got a Client Now What?

Out of the 2 potential clients only one stayed which was awesome considering my brother had never done anything like this before, he has a background in sales and management so getting on the phone and cold calling and client fishing is no problem. This is the mentality I suggest everyone that will read this and maybe take action to have, it is very effective.
The client settled for a simple yet clean web design for his business and wanted it to be developed on WordPress CMS. My brother being the sales guy he is managed to squeeze $90 for the PSD design and $150 for the site to be “developed” on WordPress with the client providing the Domain and Hosting.

Nervously I watched go to the meeting at a Starbucks and come back with a grin and a plan. He worked closely with me at my house in designing and then building the website in WordPress with Visual Composer. He had the design mock up done and approved within 2 days of taking the guy on as a client and had the site done in 2 days after that.

*While doing the design work for the client we opened a PayPal account for my brother and used the invoicing feature to bill the client for half of the amount, then the other half at delivery of service.*

    Step 5: Get Legit-ish

With his $240 earnings for his first web design creation my brother decided to invest that money back into his newly found business venture. He paid someone on Fiverr to design him a a business logo, went to Vistaprint and ordered himself some business cards with his logo. He also did what I did when I first started which was creating a website to sell his service from. So he bought a domain, got hosting using my affiliate link J and installed WordPress on his machine. He also spent the money on an actual premium theme (EasyWeb theme from Themeforest) instead of just getting a nulled version like he first planned (cheap bastard)

He created a FB, Twitter, and LinkedIn account and linked them all back to his new site and created a better Craigslist post with his new business info on it as well as the new design he did for the new client.

Step 6: Rinse and Repeat But Always Get Better!

Seeing that the above worked for him and him being the lazy bastard he was he simply just rinsed and repeated the steps above, even the learning steps of Photoshop since you can never learn too much right? Within a couple of days of getting his first client my brother was referred to another potential client by same guy who he just finished work for! He was so happy with the way my brother took care of him that he referred him to one of his friends who also need a website. By the end of first month my brother started this he had already landed 4 clients and had already made over $700.

    Final Words

it’s been around 3 months since he began this journey and is already making a full time income from this and is always getting new clients through Social media, referrals, Craigslist, and even Thumbtack. I know $700 does not sound like much in a month but when you think about the fact that this was done with $0 investment other than time you start to think damn maybe I can do something similar.

Then again he traded countless hours that month learning, and reading and absorbing all he could to earn just $700, the time he spent he will never get back so an investment was made after all $0 < Time you will never get back.

Hopefully you guys enjoyed the read and don’t hesitate to ask questions about this, remember I am currently doing and earning from this for about 6-7 months now and it has become my fulltime income and job.

    -Jay

If people "skim on here" then they're stupid and justifiably broke.

OP, good story with a sound message.

This is a really great post for people wanting to jump into offline sales. Personally, I know there is a lot of money to be made offline.

Another great guide! I've been Photoshopping for 6 years and made only a few dollars from it so far... your brother got 240 dollars after just 1 week, that's just amazing. I'll start my own portfolio site then!

When I come across a long post, I normally ask someone to sum it up. However, no need. Make website and sell. No need for the thread fluff, like it or don't.

Why dont you take it a step up ,sell drop shipping ecommece projects well where tge real cash is, once you have set it all up , they have to run it there self, and good explanation on a how to ,i am sure your get 1500 a project.....

Then you can do drop shop consultation to those you sold the projects to.

Imagine you had 10 clients and hire a hull £100 and each person pay 500 that a profit of 4900 amazing

    Might work.

Right. If people are skimming only, then I think we have found the source of why all the "IM is dead, IG is dead, All methods are dead. GG."

    Oh wow, so eloquently put
