    Hey,

I have a lot of websites that have various means of income:

    1) Affiliate offers
    2) AdSense
    3) Exclusive Offers
    4) My own products

In general the sites do well and provide income, but I found a way to get just a bit more income out of each site. Don't expect a huge boost, but it works pretty well.

In wordpress, go to plugins and type "background manager".

? Install that plugin, and then follow the steps [too lazy to teach you how to install / use a plugin]
? Create a background that has a catchy image on the left side of the page, and product details on the right side of the page. You can see an example of a website that has a background ad takeover here:

    Code:
    www.solomid.net
? If you created the background well and the aesthetics are good and catchy, you can expect around a 3-10% CTR on the background ad depending on the offer and the niche.

Here is the juicy part: #1, the website you send people to can be of any niche you want, Google [according to my testing] doesn't penalize sites for having background ads, and you can link to anything you want... even if it is a little bit of a bad neighborhood. Beware that if you are going to link to a bad neighborhood to cloak your link, never directly link. #2, the page that the user lands on can have all of the nasty scripts you've always wanted that Google will usually penalize like exit blocker scripts, redirects or pop-ups.

This has been working pretty well for me and the ads convert consistently at the same rate as the regular ads on my site. This method effectively increases your earnings without causing any damage. There is no downside!

If you have Q's let me know!

PHP and Wordpress are totally different things. It sounds like you need to upgrade PHP on your server to the latest version. If you don't run your own servers you will need to ask your web host to do it for you. The latest stable version is 5.4.10.

You can add a line to .htaccess that should force a new version of php. Maybe somebody can post it I don't know it off hand
