Buying electronics and clothing in my country is just super expensive.
It's central European country. You can easily guess what's in the centre of Europe.
We don't use euro, so we don't make euro, but some other currency.

It doesn't make sense to not work remotely if you know how to use a computer.
And one thing is to earn in dollars or euro.
Another thing is to spend less and buy more.

But how do I get cheap electronics and clothing in Europe?

Nike shoes cost like 1/3 of the minimal wage here.
Decent pair of headphones costs like 1/2 of the minimal wage.

The best software developers make like x4 the minimal wage which is about $3 - $4k.
Some may make $10k monthly but they are super rare and you'd reach that goal faster with marketing if you know what you are doing.

They still can spend their whole payment and not get much for this.

Imagine a bottle of alcohol would cost you $50. This is what it feels like when you work here in a 9-5.

Since apartments are so cheap here, I see it as an opportunity to grow and save money.
But I want to buy electronics cause... I need them anyways.
But it seems so expensive, one can go broke just by buying a new laptop.

At the moment I'm not making dollars. I used to and the life felt luxurious, but electronics still were hella expensive.

Is it Hungary? Most likely I'm going to immigrate there next year. But electronics are pretty much are expensive everywhere in Europe. At least some thing are still cheap unlike my country where literally EVERYTHING is fucking expensive!!

Inverse of the Indonesia and Monaco flag.

I am from same country but it's not that bad as you say :D

Aliexpress or gearbest is there for you (I don't know the important duty of your country for electronics)

Ok so Poland. Yeah, shit got expensive real fast once they could work in Western Europa so the people of Poland kinda responsible shit got more expensive, still cheaper than over here.

You would think twice to buy things here. Compares to somewhere else in EU

Maybe it's just my bad luck, but what I see only people who are really hardcore and very obsessed about their goals get them.
It's my experience, so for sure it's not very objective.

I used to buy Xiaomi phones, but they sucked for some reason. I just don't like to pretend it's the same as other brands.
Anyways, there is no company that can produce what Intel and AMD do.

that's why we are here on this forum to get this goals :)

For real. I'm moving mentally to the US.

Ok. So let's have a look.

This piece looks interesting. I would shoot a movie and also have some fun doing that.
But how much work I would really need to put to get that.
I believe being a very average dev in the US would allow me to purchase this in a month.
Meanwhile while I'm here I would have to be saving for 3 or 4 months to buy it.

If my hobby requires buying things and using them, that means it takes me 4 times longer to implement some thing into my process.
Many of known to me have gone the greedy path, and only because they didn't feel rewarded for their work.

So start working, why you want to be an average developer, be a pro...
No fucking way to become pro dev in less than 6 - 8 years. I've been doing it casually for 2 years.
And anything I do is so slow. It's like every tiny bit of the software takes me a full hour of thinking. Of course I'm trying to make it so that I can be okay with it in the future.
But this is still so slow nobody would say a pro is like that.

To become better, I would need to go to uni and spend like $100k which is SO BIG MONEY I could move to any country of my choice.
Why uni? Cause I would be practicing math, physics and all that medium - low level programming stuff.
Then I would be finally able to understand the world of computer science better and so make better software.

You will say that your degree does not matter. But hey, it's probably easier to find your way around if you have a broader understanding.

I've removed some text from the OP because I think your answer is in the first line.

I'm doing well above the average for my country and I wouldn't buy Nike shoes, I have a generic pair of $20 from Amazon. I have headphones on 10+ hours a day and I still wouldn't spend money on a 'decent' pair of headphones. I'm using the same laptop I bought a couple of years ago.

Stop wasting your money on stuff you don't need.

Do you think the guys who are hardcore about their goals don't deal with variance?

Luck has nothing to do with it. If you want these things then stop daydreaming and get back to work.

This is good idea, but I have seen just the latest beamer on the street and I would like to get that.
Fortunately there is a conflict in my head telling me I should reinvest the money, so I may be on the path to save myself from the trap.

I understand you may enjoy inexpensive hobbies like eating peanuts or watching the sunset, but I prefer doing those with the high quality audio.
Having headphones doesn't mean you are into music.

Is that device called chromebook?

And what other interesting things will you say? That you eat with a small spoon so you don't get too full and trigger your warrior instinct?

I see we are going from one extreme to the other. :)

You and everyone else who was on the street.

Go to any other forum and your responses will agree with you. Yep, life sucks. It's unfair. Tax the 1% etc... This is one of the few forums that could genuinely change your circumstances.

It's not about preference. It's about being able to invest in your future so you're not posting a thread like this again in 12 months.

It's a beat-up Dell laptop. One of the fans is dead and part of the case is broken off but it does the job.

I do eat with a small spoon but that's all about keeping the 6-pack.

Don't get defensive, I'm not having a go at you. I'm really not.

It's normal to want a new car and a fancy branded shirt etc... What's not normal is being on a forum like BHW. Most people who complain to me about not being able to afford something won't even make it far enough to join a forum like this.

Your thread asks a question. How to spend less and buy more? Start by spending less and throwing everything you have into your future.

Which public UNI costs in Poland $100 000?

Which public UNI costs in Poland $100 000?
This is the cost of 5 years of teachings. Taking into account my current way of living the costs would quickly jump into the $1500 - $2000 range totaling $100k in 5 years. From what I've seen people in this country aren't able to continue their work while working for their engineering degree, so they're just spending.

And you're at zero all the time. Or you have some sort of student loan. It looked poorly in my observation. Students have told me it's not worth it.

And in 5 years from now I would be so fucking old, it makes me wanna cry.
And I'd still listen to the cheapest audio despite having the amazing degree and being able to work at a mid level software position for less than 2 thousands bucks.

And let's be honest, who will take such a diploma seriously? Nobody? I, in the recruitment for programmers, saw that nobody got a job for a diploma.

We've got places called Dealz, Lidl and Aldi around Ireland where they sell really cheap versions of everything.

I used to wear North Face, Nike, Adidas and all that religiously. Now I buy $10 jackets from Dealz that seem to last longer than a $200 tracksuit from North Face... Don't buy name brand, these wouldn't be considered knockoffs either but the price is phenomenal.

Every country usually has a set-up like Dealz, Lidl and Aldi. Find what one yours is and usually they're retail stores that even price their food and services extremely discounted.

poverty yo

I was well fucked out of cash buying Nike. 5 pairs, each of them was dead in 6 months.
