I'm creating a site that's selling online digital products. I was reading that SEO is affected not just by the number of links you have but the anchor text and PR as well. Let's take for example ebooks. If I have a site that sells ebooks do I create links to the main page or to the individual products? Like a "How to Dominate YouTube" ebook. I'm guessing I would start linking other YouTube related articles and submitting some of my own. Making the anchor text "Make Money on YouTube". Is it pointless to buy link building packages if the authority PR of the pages linked is low? For example I see a lot of services in the BST section that offer a bunch of different links from various platforms. None of these pages have any page rank or authority other than the platform that host it. Like Web2.0, article submissions, wiki blasts etc. What good is linking to a related article / content, even with correct anchor text / keywords if the article itself has no value? Seems like you then have to link tier 2 pages to the tier 1 content that links to your main page or product to have any value. Any insight you guys could share on this is appreciated. Just want to make sure I know what I'm talking about before I go about building links to my new site all wrong. I don't want a million xrumer or senuke blast links that have no value.
