How to send Twitter Direct Messages automatically?

I have been getting more into twitter lately and I see whenever I follow someone sometimes I get a DM saying "Thanks for the follow, check out my site" or "Friend me on FB, circle me on G+" etc.
How can I do that that. When someone follows me, how can I send them a DM automatically promoting my site?
