How to save marketing budget on assets that don’t work!

We know links are a ranking factor, right?!
But, there’s many ways to skin a cat.
What I mean, there’s the right way to do link building, and there’s many wrong ways.
No time wasted, here’s some takeaways

DO’s
✅
Build links from REAL website pages. “What?” Well, I get a lot of businesses approach me, I take a look at their link profile (that they’ve paid for), and I sit back in shock. But I get it, you pay a link builder who’s supposed to be the expert, not knowing you’re being scammed
✅
RELEVANCY is key. There must be relevance from one page linking to another. For example, a fitness supplement website would naturally get links from fitness bloggers, right?
✅
Anchors, this frustrates me. You DO NOT need to hit a page with 37 exact match anchors. Mix up your anchors. You’d be surprised how LAZY people can be, not doing a single check on competitor’s anchors. Check competitor’s anchors - JUST DO IT (Nike inspiration on this).
✅
Build links to clustered content and watch the cream rise

forget firing links to random pages and guessing where the crawl bot will be going. Take control of the power

✅
Whether you’re a new brand or you’re a Fortune 500 company, PR links will help. Links with brand mentions on powerhouse legit sites will build increased trust with Google. All about building that trust

✅
Always check majestic, if a website screams SPAM, skip the dam thing
There’s more..
But, let’s look at what not to do:
DON’T
❌
Simple one, don't buy “link packages” for $10, they just don't work. Save your money and buy your team a pizza for team pizza photos on LinkedIn

❌
Don’t pay for overpriced link vendors. I’ve used most of them. You can easily pay $400 for a link they sell, and I’ve seen the same link priced at $30 on a link dashboard.
❌
Don’t buy links if you’re website’s hierarchy is a mess. Fix your website before paying a fortune on links. You will get better ROI in the long run.
❌
Don’t spam anchors. I mentioned this above, there’s just too many brands that think you have to hit the same anchor 28 times to a category page. It’s 2022, this is not needed.
❌
DA and DR, I’m sick of this.
❌
Don’t get sucked into graphs that just state links “took us to this glory”. No, it didn’t. Links are “one” of the top ranking factors. You can build all the links you like, if you’re technical is a shambles and your on-page is even worse, you’re not going to get very far!
Okay to summarise..
Links are V important. But there’s many wrong ways to build links, and they’re not the only ranking factor.
Build links because it makes sense to do so, not just because your competitor has bought link packages.
Fix your website, make your content great and the links will help with a strategic approach
Have a great day and good luck with your link building

Greetings! Thanks for sharing your own jams here :) I wish you goodluck in your work too!

This is a great list of of do's and don'ts.

I especially like the part about building links from real websites.

I can't emphasize that enough.

Whether you're doing a guest post campaign or you're doing another form of link building, use real sites.

These are websites that actually get traffic.

These are websites that have a real community behind them.

These are also sites that are most likely real authorities in your niche.

That's a winning combination.

But if I may add something, don't just build links.

Build real links.

What I mean by that is that the link that you're getting must have a call-to-action.

In other words, the content that is linking to your target page must add value to your target page, and vice versa.

This way, you can look at the target page as an extension of the keyword intent of the person that found the referring page.

I hope you understand what I'm talking about because this doesn't disrupt the flow of value from site to site.

This increases the likelihood that Google will look at your site as a natural extension of the contextual value of the pages linking to you.
