I'm a newbie and just started reading the forum. I've downloaded a good ebook from here on how to setup a linkwheel however it is too vague and assumes that the reader is already up to speed in blackhat seo techniques. Because of this, I have a couple questions.

    1. Is it ok to use all blogger blogs or several of these in a linkwheel?

    2. When building the links on each page, does it have to contain visible url or can it be also a text link or image map link?

    3. Does the linkwheel have to be six 2.0 web sites only or can it contain more sites?

    Thanks for your help.

    1) Sure, its not the web 2.0 properties that necessarily make a link wheel special, its relevant content that is interlinked. The interlinking is a spider activation method.

    2) It should be any kind of do follow link (image or otherwise), but note a text link with your anchor text is the most powerful for keyword ranking.

    3) It can be 1,000 again the point is to get relevant content and the interlinking is to help kick the spiders in the pants.

MonsterClicks seems to have answered all of the above very well indeed.

I would just add that if I am creating link wheels which are all going to point to the same domain (even though individual pages) I still prefer to pick and mix from a range of sites to use in each linkwheel rather than continually using the same properties over and over.

I also vary the number of sites that i use in each wheel, some have just 4 while some have 15 (and others have anywhere in between).
