That depends on how much watts your computer is using at idle. I suggest you to download a program that checks this. I think "Everest" does that.

common use is about the system and which products you are using and watts.

Why is the thread titled "how much does it cost for running a computer 24/7" then? All you have to worry about is the price of electricity, which means you have to be aware of how much power you're using monthly or whatever.

You could consider a VPS. Seems more cost effective solution to me

There are quite a few low-cost VPS solutions out there. I'd suggest finding one that matches your home setup close enough to allow you to mirror your tasks remotely instead.

If you computer is a normal desktop you can run it for 15 years continuously and not hurt anything. I never turn my machines off.

I have no idea what it will cost you, but running continuously for a desktop is normal.

Indeed... I've had my laptop for 4 years and turned it off like 5 times ....

I do restart it though every 2-3 weeks to update windows.

I never shut down my system. It runs continuously. Just get a UPS and even the power fails, it has a backup.

This is a great idea - you would save a lot of money on electricity.

The only reason I would have a computer running 24/7 is only if I had a special bitcoin/other cryptocurrency mining rig with special hardware to mine efficiently.

Not at all. These days, computers are optimised to be put to sleep between uses and hardly ever turned off. 15 days will be no problem, even for an old model.

My old ass Pentium 4 desktop which runs Windows XP stays on 24/7 for the past 5 years. Other computers I've had, stayed on for 10 years.

You can run a normal computer 24/7 for years without any special equipment...

Expect to need to restart sometimes when there's software bugs or memory errors but overheating won't be a problem if you don't overheat with normal use. The CPU won't be any hotter after running for 30 days then it would be after running for 30 mins.
