I asked similar question few days back. but I did not give enough detail. here is the problem :

I had a web hosting account with almost half dozen domain. It expired. I took complete backup through cpanel. Now the hosting account expired and I don't have access to anything.
I got a new web hosting account. Now I want to restore the sites. The problem is my main site in which the wordpress was installed earlier is changed. I tried to restore evrything through cpanel but not successful.

Can anybody suggest me what to do in this situation as I don't have access to the contents now.
(EDIT : Problem solved, look at my last few comments for steps.)

What kind of backup did you take? is it just the files or/and database as well? If you have the DB backup then you can import the DB in your new hosting. You can't do anything if you don't have the backup of wordpress database from your old hosting account.

I subscribe to comment above. You need database backup.

    On your new host:

    - create new database, open phpMyAdmin and import the old database
    - if you have all the files of your WordPress site, simply FTP them to the new host
    - if you don't have the files, simply FTP (upload) the files from the same version of WordPress as your old site
    - open wp-config.php and change the Database name, username, password; if you don't have wp-config.php, then edit wp-config-sample.php and save it as wp-config.php
    - FTP (upload) the file to your site's root
    - you are done

I created the database through cpanel. and restored the database.
Then I copied the folder backup-11.30.2012_23-28-27_abc\homedir\public_html\mysite.com and placed it to the public_html folder of my current hosting (I am restoring a addon domain). But it still showing database error. What mistake I did ??

I created the databse using the same name as it was in last host. I kept the username and password same. It's still showing db error. Instead of changing in wp-config.php, I created a similar user and kept the password same. still problem persists. (Error establishing a database connection.)

ITS DONE. I CHNAGED THE PRIVILEGES AND PROVIDED THE NEW USER ALL THE PRIVILEGES.

Did you change the nameservers and has it propagated? If not your website might be trying to pull data from the old database. Set your host file with your hosting IP and domainname.com or www.domainname.com and see if the problem disappears.

You registered with the same user name also at the new hosting? Typically with cPanel hostiing the username is the prefix for the database and admin so make sure those are really correct and the same in the config file. Also if either hosting used a separate MySQL server you need to change the path. Typically it's localhost but some hostiing services run separate MySQL so check config and make sure it's set correctly.
