Google recently indexed around 2000 links for my site but most of them I don't want appearing in google search results. It indexed /tag/ links, links of pages that are set as private or otherwise not visible to people and it also indexed a link for ever single picture /media file...

is there a way to get google to re index my site/links to only show the correct urls in search results and show no URL for each single image? I submitted a sitemap created by yoast.

    1) Ammending your robots.txt file to disallow those specified directories (if you have a robots.txt file create, which it doesn't really sound like you do)
    2) Blocking Googlebot in those directories would be a good thing as well, via htaccess.

    3) Update your sitemap to only include the links you do want \ 4) You can fetch a manual crawl of your site, but I don't know how long it would take to have those undesired pages de-indexed.
