I have a site that's been penalized for a over 2 years due to unnatural links and duplicate content. I have cleaned up the site by rewriting contents and removed as many Wordpress theme sponsored links as possible. For those links that couldn't be removed I used disavow tool.

The good news is that the manual penalty was revoked in May 2013. But it's been 8 months the site is still no where to be found for perviously ranked keywords.

One thing I'm sure is the anchor texts were over-optimized. But these links shouldn't count anymore since they have been disavowed.

Possible the site still doesn't pass penguin 1 and 2? what can I do to bring the ranking back? Starting building links as if it's a brand new site?

301 Redirect sir. Stop wasting time and get on it today. GO out find a related pr3-4 domain, webarchive content then 301 to your new site.

So what is the advantage of redirecting site which is not ranking. I just not sure there is anything behind it, I know it is know trick that people question sometime.
I imaging if there is no authority / ranking on site, then you will not gain much redirecting it on oposite site you may introduce to google your new site as one related to penalized.

You can always redirect the specific pages that had High PR, you do not have to 301 the whole website. Thus creating only legit content. Now get working!!

Depending on what the penalty was for and how bad it was, your site will eventually rise back up especially with Google's latest updates, but the best and not to mention quickest route to take is just grabbing a new domain and use that instead.

Try to get links from high authority site guest posts and blog posts. It is the best way to regain the Google trust to your site.

Bad advice, 301 a penalized domain? He's already gotten over the hard part.

The problem now is he needs to rebuild links, this time don't use the shortcut mass-and-blast article networks and sitewide wordpress footers. Just diversify a bit and you'll stay beneath the radar.

You can regain your rankings once the manual penalty has been removed. Your likely just needing a bit more link juice to regain what's been removed and lost over time.

Make sure your on-page SEO is right and cleaned up and then add fresh, high quality content to your site with low keyword density.
Then you can start building web 2.0 pages linking to your site and additionally add a second tier of links.

Negative umbre, 301 redirect with style.

    1. Get a related high PR domain with age on it. (this helps when you get a blasting penalty)

    2. 301 the High PR Pages to your new site

    3. Submit to google a request for evaluation and in the request tell them "Hey, My site was sabotaged and I was penalized and could not fully regain rankings through all attempts to make it right. I decided to invest in a new domain, with a fresh website and 301 the pages that were not penalized from my old site. I hope this satisfy google as a fix and I can regain my lost rankings. I consider the matter fixed if there is anything else recommend contact me"

4.Do not contradict FXPHIL as he only speaks on matters he knows about.

By merely picking up an aged domain to 301 you are spreading out the penalty and it can actually turn into a blessing. After google revevaultes it it will look good and clean. The whole point is not to screw google over but to fix your site when something goes wrong and you're on the last resort method. Look at a penalty as a "hey, man something wrong that you need to fix" issue. There is always disavow and other things you can do before running this option but that is the question at hand.

all pages live now have been rewritten. A lot of outdated pages were put in noindex. I haven't built anymore links since the site got penalized. I heard High pr Web 2.0 sites can help but a lot of them are nofollow now. Can you point me to the right thread or service/product offered at this forum?

rebuilding links is exactly what I'm planning to do. Also going to start a new site at the same time and see which one ranks faster.

Buy a new domain. Host your website on a new I.P. Start building links to your blog and start making enough cash.

This is where your plan fails Phil, how do you think he's gonna submit a reconsideration request like that? He's had his penalty removed which means that functionality is taken away. The new domain you are proposing for him to buy doesn't have a penalty and thus cannot file a reconsideration request. So what now?

And lets say for a minute he could do what you proposed, do you really think Google's gonna be like "oh cool, you bought an old high PR domain and want us to help you with the redirect and not pass the penalty along! Sure buddy, I'm more than happy to help you with that. While I'm in there let me adjust your rankings to the top positions as well. You friend - Matt Cutts"
