    Hey all, when doing keywords research, I always thought there is no one on the earth query exactly same keywords as others, i.e. when 100 ppl query keywords containing "free dog", they may input "how to get dog images for free", "free dog food", "free the dog, stop eat them", and thus in Google's keywords tool the "free dog" will show 100 search volume, and an idiot will setup a site around "how to get a free dog", then get nothing. And therefore, my question would be, how do you target a proper keyword which neither has multi-means nor too vague too general.

    Below is a live case, please tell me your choice, and why

    From the way you phrased your question... it doesn't sound like you understand

    the difference between exact / phrase / broad -- search results.

    --> I could be wrong! :)

    But honestly if your already investing this much time, spend a few hours going

    over Googles Adwords training.

    It's free and actually very good.

    The reason the search volume looks so spaced out is because of semantics and related content.

    Google will very very rarely give -- no -- results.

    So they often have to do broad search and phrase for topics.

    ---

    As far as picking keywords...

    You probably know what a #1 spot in the SERP's means to your business.

    Focus on ranking for long tail keywords that you can get to Page 1 for.

    This helps in the long run because Google loves authority sites with tons of relevant content.

    Again check out Googles Adwords training... they pretty much tell you exactly how and why they show what search results.

    Good luck! :)

    Figure out your root keyword and then type it in as a search on Google. Good should show you suggested queries. Build for any of those that are relevant to your site. I've had great success doing this as many people will choose from the suggestions provided by the Big G.
