Hey guys, I've got a forum in a collectible niche, and was able to build up about 30 members or so by using social network sites, and I get a small amount of organic traffic (bottom of 2nd/3rd page of G) plus probably a little from lower first page results of yahoo.

Anyways, there is another forum ranking first page of google for multiple keywords, has a few thousand members, and a bit over 5,000 posts from the past, but hardly active anymore. I'll log in and see maybe 1 other member on, and the latest post is sometimes a few days old.

I am wondering if you guys could recommend any way to 'steal' the members to try to get them to my site? I was thinking of just sending PMs to a bunch of members but he doesn't have an 'all members' link so is their any way to view a list of all of his members? He is using vbulletin.
I've got a link in my sig and make an occasional post, but I don't want to bring up a bunch of old posts and make it look spammy so he bans me. Any other methods you guys can think of?
Thanks for any help and/or ideas!

What kind of website are you dealing with? I had a technical website few years ago and faced same problem.
I created few help guides in my website for various computer issues.Went to an inactive forum but with lot of members.Created fake accounts and started asking for help.I would reply to own topics there showing links to my website where the fixes were available..That worked..

That's a pretty good idea, thanks. I just setup a blog for the site as well so maybe I could utilize my blog posts as guides to bring people in.
It's a forum for coin collectors by the way
