Hello everyone! I am quite new to buying expired domains and I have always had doubts about what to look for to see how certain it is that an expired domain has traffic before.

My question is relative if by buying the domain and creating a basic page that traffic is going to come back in part (since many people reach it through direct search) or is it necessary to create well-made pages to be indexed and ranked in google?

I would also really appreciate knowing what other factors I should look at before buying an expired domain, any links or videos that help me to go deeper would be appreciated.

Follow the instructions on the below thread by @fasttrak

I followed the same instructions and was able to restore a domain I got, the domain started receiving good impressions, regaining its previously held positions. Though you have exercise a little bit of patience because some domains are stubborn.

  1. On your computer, sign in to Google Domains.
  2. Find the name of the domain to be restored.
  3. Click Restore.
  4. To acknowledge that the purchase may be non-refundable, check the box.
  5. To confirm that you want to continue, click Yes, restore.
  6. Continue with the payment.

In my opinion rebuilding traffic takes time and persistence. Focus on providing valuable content, optimizing for search engines, and creating relevant content to gradually rebuild your website's traffic and visibility.

I have experimented with expired domains in the past.Only keyword rich expired domains get small amounts of search traffic without any effort on the domain owner's part.

If you want to get significant amounts of traffic to these domains, you'll need to create fresh websites, fresh content, fresh backlinks to them as you would do with any newly registered domain.

If it was not used for any spam in the past, there's a high chance it could get indexed quicker

I agree, the backlinks in the expired domains is a asset you can look forward for!

If you buy an expired domain and create a basic page, it does not guarantee that you will get traffic or ranking from Google. Expired domains are domain names that have been registered before, but were not renewed by their owners. They may have some residual authority, backlinks, and traffic from their previous use, but they also come with some risks and challenges.
