How to rank in google search engine of different country ?

Hi Bh'ers

I am from india managing a SEO firm here. I have a question to ask. I have a US client who needs his site to rank in first page of google.com. The search engine we have in india is google.co.in. For All my earlier clients, i made them to rank in google.co.in but for this particular client i need to rank him on google.com. Is there any different way to rank in search engine on different country? Do i need to concentrate on building US backlinks or something ?

To Access Google.Com from india or anywhere from world, Bookmark the following url and Use it to Check ranking for your abroad clients.

There is no rule to build backlinks only on US Domains to rank them up on their country. All you need is backlinks and backlinks from high pr domains to rank on google. Sign out from your google account and follow the above url to check rankings.

You can also change you settings on the default Google Toolbar, so you work only with Google.com data.

Actually I live outside USA and I only work with google.com because I change those settings.
 
no nothing like that mate just write daily fresh articles and slowly slowly your site will get indexed
 
The difference? It's much easier to rank on local search than on Google (sorry, can't type the address cos apparently I'm still a newb on BHW and the system doesn't allow me), so you may want to adjust your costs accordingly (if you have quoted too cheaply).

In contrast to local SEO, you don't need to a ccTLD, local hosting, set country targeting in Webmaster Tools or write lots of localized content. However, you'll realize that you need more, high quality backlinks than you're used to.
 
Some of them here have mistaken my question, i know how to open google.com BUT i was asking whether there is any particular strategy to rank in google(US) staying in different country(india).
 
it's rather obvious , you need US backlinks if you want to promote site in US g00gle .
Backlinks from India are useless
 
OMG too much bullshit in here, please do not respond if you don't have a clue whats going on

Most of us are not located in USA but still we rank on Google.com

TO OP, build normal backlinks as you do usually for your Indian clients but make sure your backlinks are coming from English sites (preferably TLD extensions such as .COM , .NET , .ORG etc)

Also make sure you use this IP to check your rankings

Backlinks from India are useless? A backlink is a backlink, despite its link power so never underestimate countries other than USA
 
I ranked #1 on all non-us google, but not google.com which sucks -.-
 
Even if backlinks from other countries count now, I could see this changing somewhat in the (near) future given Google's late emphasis on local, and generally trying to improve results for their users. Not important for pumping and dumping a site, but for a long term growth strategy, I know I'd prefer local high quality links.
