I am currently in the process of building a site but its going to be a service and I want it ranking in the first page for about 10 keywords. This page is a service that I offer throughout the US.

If I will not be adding new content, then what is the best way to rank for these keywords? They website will not change much through out the year, maybe updates every couple of months, if that. What do you guys suggest?

I would suggest getting unique content... the overall feeling of your site will be more professional because you have taken the time to get unique content. I myself have a site and only have 9 posts but those 9 posts are unique and this month the site received over 1000 unique visitors which 50 of those where organic just because of unique content. If you need any unique content I could cut you a reasonable rate... not because I like writing but I have some other projects I want to start up.

I completely worded my OP wrong. The content will be all unique, but I will not be adding content to it because It's going to be more of a service I offer. As in I wont have much else to write about.

I also have this same question. Would running some rss feeds in the deep backend funneling to the main content page help with this?

Unique content is must for good ranking.. If you have planned it to update it over months then try to put some informative content( both informative as well as marketing purpose content)..

I have a service site. I just put a blog on it, and post a few times a month.
Link back to your main page from your blog posts with your desired keywords.
Just this simple procedure is probably way more than your competitors are doing.

The blog idea is good if you will actually be bothered to update it.

Otherwise just start a structured diverse linkbuilding campaign for your keywords and monitor the results in a decent tracking software.

I have lots of clients sites that hardly ever update, fresh content is useful, but not an absolute requirement.

I find a constant trickle of social links helps keep the site spidered and ranking - the odd bookmark and FB/twitter mention should do for low comp stuff.

If this is high competition, high profit stuff, you should be able to afford constant monthly linkbuilding. There are plenty of those type of services about, just search.
