I want to start some serious rank tracking for all my clients, however there doesn't seem to be an affordable option... Every service I ask keeps telling me about 10k $ / monthly for this.

Is there really no cheaper way to do this? Is it very hard to do with proxy?

lots of good public proxies + scrapebox + ranktracker plugin would do it

for proxies I would go for proxygo's service: £80 ($132)
you get proxies 5 days a week and everyday there is more than 1,000 passed, fast, proxies

    scrapebox: $57
    ranktracker plugin: $15

so for the one off cost of $204 you can track as many keywords as you want 5 days a week.

That sounds good, but how fast would I burn the proxies with so many keywords?

Is doing this an hassle or does scrapebox handles the changing proxies on its own when they get captcha?

not 100% sure how it works but you get new proxies daily and each day there is more than 1,000 google passed ones so I would guess maybe a few hundred requests before a proxy dies but the ranktracker checker might have a custom wait time to act like a human.

If you need to check 100k+ keywords weekly then you must have a lot of clients...work that cost into your service - I mean maybe I am missing something here but if you are working on 100k+ keywords then paying for a proper rank tracker is a drop in the pan, right?

I have 15 clients currently, but I want to be very thorough with the tracking so I can get a true visibility metric which is pure of brand keywords etc.

If I just drop 100k keywords in searchmetrics it will be VERY expensive.

I think i need some kind of API access and program my own reporting tool. API seems a lot cheaper then the web apps. Maybe I give scrapebox a try.

Any good services for cheap API access?

Checking the ranking for 100k is allot. There will no service will provide you less than 8k per month. However, there are way to check that bulk keywords. Just bought about 200 private proxies, buy one ps, on scrapebox and install the scrapbooks in vps and use the scrapebox along with your proxies to check that keywords in interval of times.

Focusing on 100k rankings for 15 clients is overkill and you aren't providing them a real service at that point. I can't even imagine the long tail keywords you are trying to track with 100k keywords among 15 clients.

Focus on getting your clients 15-20 keywords for each site that bring in real traffic and it'll be just as effective.

Most of them are ecommerce clients, so they have lots and lots of products. When linkbuilding id like to observe the overall visibility according to the really relevant keywords, and not brand keywords or irrelevant keywords. Its more about the avg visibility index, not so much about really trying to look at each kw individually. When building links to the homepage there are a lot of kw afected, not just a few. thats why i need it, to know whats going on exactly.

Think you're focusing on the wrong metric here. Traffic and more importantly conversions is all that matters. Just accept that you're going to pick up lots of longtail traffic and focus on the rankings for the big volume keywords. Problem solved.

well the problem with that is since not provided you cant be sure whats driving the traffic and the conversions. especially with brands who have a lot of brand traffic.

There should be a few professional rank trackers out there that can track 100k keywords for far less than 10k.

Use Bing and Yahoo as a substitute for "not provided" - if you're getting decent traffic it should be directionally accurate.

You won't be able to take in the volume of information you are getting from 100k terms, let alone provide any sort of meaningful analysis.

I understand why you want to, as this would give your clients a visible signal of your successes as an seo.

Unless you have somehow promised a particular serp presence I would concentrate on traffic and conversions as these are the true desired operational outcomes of any business.

Some of the terms I rank first in provide 1 hit per month, but hey it's still first!!!
