I wanted to get some ideas for ranking a new site (week old). I have been having terrible success trying to rank new sites. I have been doing too much to them and it hurts their ranking dramatically. Two sites I was on page 1 for have dropped from the serps dramatically after getting mohsinmajestic's 125 link (nothing against his service) social bookmarks package and then SB blasting those. I've also tried some xrumer packages on other sites and blasted those. All bad ideas. So what's an actual good way to slowly boost my serps ? Manually posting comments on blogs ?

It seems to me like search engines focus on new sites more / differently than established websites. I think there is some sort of 'review' period to see if a website is going to be legit, or if it's going to be a BH or spam site. Because of this, I've stopped promoting my websites in any BH manner for their first month or so. I'll add content to the website regularly, and make a small number of blog comments linking back to my site, but nothing crazy. This is all to keep the site off of the spam radar of the search engines. After that, I start with small blasts slowly and steadily increase over time.

It makes sense to me that the search engines know that Blackhatters are not patient, they want results, and they want them now. So, to combat this, be patient.

Just my thoughts on the topic.

oakley's logic is sound. for now, you can use alternative methods such as twitter or stumbleupon to draw traffic.

I'm also a believer in slow and steady. In the first month I will create some unique articles and post them to some blogging properties such as live journal, squidoo, etc. After a month or so I'll start backling to those as well as my money site with other platforms

If you have been blasting your brand new money site with xrumer or scrapebox then this can have a negative impact on rankings.

For new websites i would initially look at creating several articles that contain keyword backlinks to your money site and submitting them either yourself via AMR or choosing an article submission service on Fiverr.com.

Then once these articles were approved i would use xrumer and scrapebox to build backlinks to these articles, creating valuable link juice to your money site.

Also using some kind of linkwheel service on BHW will help with backlinks and rankings.

This is exactly what I did to get one of my other sites hurt too. I think it's a great idea for more mature sites though. Perhaps if I just didn't blast the articles and instead just let em mature on their own.

    Thanks for the replys

Quite surprised blasting to articles damaged your rankings, done my websites nothing but good. I just think you have been rather unlucky!!

Honestly I start out by blasting it with links. What if someone made a site and it got extremely popular and every blogger started linking to it, Google would want to show that information, not penalize it. I don't know that much though so maybe you guys are right.

    My first 10 steps . . .

    1. KW Research - around 12 to begin with
    2. Buy great domain
    3. Create 1 article for each keyword
    4. Submit articles to Ezine Articles
    5. Directory submissions
    6. Manual authority blog comments
    7. Ongoing content (3 articles per week)
    8. Social bookmarking
    9. EDU forum profiles
    10. Press releases

Spread this out over 90 days from time G indexes you. Then, you're close to being ready for BH techniques.

Rule number 1 try to avoid ever blasting your brand new money site directly with backlinks.

What I have done with succes is to setup a link pyramid to a new site. But important is be real slow in indexing the links created, let Google find them naturally.

If you don't know how to make your own link pyramid, then there are plenty of suppliers on here or on fiverr. There is a post somewhere here called "best fiverr gigs" or something like that....that should help..

Yeah, forget links (for a second) and look at your actual target site. Is it 'thin'?

Put 1000 words or more on the home page and add additional lengthy inner page articles as well. With a few graphics and youtube vids

Here is my take.. The links did not hurt your site. Google found your new site a placed it up on page 1. Google later re-evaluated the site and placed it in it's proper position. Happens all the time. Keep working and it will climb back up. Normally this happens around the 1 week mark.

Update: Maybe I was stuck in the google dance but two of those sites are now on page one, rank one and two for their kw searches. The other site is still lost.
