Well, most of us are getting infected by computer viruses and other malwares (adwares, spywares, rootkits etc) these days. The reason isn't that we don't use antivirus but the reason is they can be bypassed . People think a file scanned on VirusTotal is safe but they don't know that there are techniques which can avoid detection of viruses and malwares. I'm not going to discuss such techniques here but I'll help you to safeguard yourself from virus attacks.

So I recommend few methods before using any bot/software downloaded from the internet-

1)The first method is Using Sandboxie- Install sandboxie on your PC and run programs in it. To run a program in sandboxie, right click on the program and click "Run Sandboxed" . You can chose the Default Box or you can create other boxes too. Sandboxie doesn't allow any file to leak from the box. Therefore a virus/malware cannot spread on your PC.
2)Use Virtual Machine- You can use softwares like VMWare player/Virtual Box which are available for free on the internet to create Virtual Machines. Virtual Machines are good for testing programs .
3)Install Commodo Firewall which is available for free on the internet- You can install Commodo Firewall which asks everytime a program tries to access a resource. There's a paid software which is also good- Zemana AntiLogger. But for saving money you can stick with the free program :)

You can find more info about the above programs on the internet, just google the terms :)

There are many more methods for securing yourself from virus attacks but I told you what I use personally and what is easy to use. So if someone of you don't like it then just close the tab instead of posting retarded comments.
Hope you enjoyed reading it :)
    Thanks

Agree with the above list. In addition:

    1. It's a good idea to always run your browser sandboxed (using SandBoxie), and also any other software that may access malicious websites, for instance, Scrapebox.

    2. Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malaware.

(I've used Norton antivirus/firewall but it was way too resource intensive and annoying, so don't recommend it).

Hey guys, just my two cents on this. Search out Dr. Web and Malware Bytes. Great free programs that clean me up EVERY time!

    Cheers!

What do you think about avira free AV?

I am thinking about uninstalling it. It's too annoying.

well, I like Avira and I've Avira Internet Security installed on my PC, never got infected. If you don't like Avira then uninstall it, there are lot of freely available antivirus products in the market which work fine :) Never force yourself to like anything if you don't like it at all, search for other alternatives m8. :)
