How to Prevent sitemaps from showing up in Google search results?

I have a website with 10k pages and all URLs are shown in one sitemap.php file. So when I search some of my keywords then sitemap.php showed up in the Google search results and not the blog post where the keyword is optimized. For some keywords both sitemap and the blog post came out in the results. Why does it happen?

You sitemap should be in readable format for search bot crawler ( .xml format).

You want to have a look into that first.
