I just saw a thread asking how to outrank wikipedia. I came across these videos a while back and I found them quite insightful, so I thought I'd pass them along. This won't necessarily help you outrank wikipedia right away, but if you take certain niches and an extended amount of time, it can be done and it has been done. He mentions some complicated black hat methods (in the first video at about 1:00) which I can go into more details if I get enough people interested. I'll have to make another post for it. Video 1 (starts mentioning some black hat techniques at about 1 minute): Code: http://www.chaddo.com/wikicourse/01whyGetaLink.php Video 2 (increasing your rankings, decreasing wikipedia rankings): Code: http://www.chaddo.com/wikicourse/02wikipedCompetition.php Video 3 (stubs): Code: http://www.chaddo.com/wikicourse/03stubsAndNewArt.php Video 4 (talk pages): Code: http://www.chaddo.com/wikicourse/04talkPages.php Video 5 (foreign language wikipedia): Code: http://www.chaddo.com/wikicourse/05nonEnglish.php If you put these strategies into effect, you can increase your search rankings fairly easily. It does take a good amount of work, but this is a smart community so I know many people will put these ideas to good use!
